Is the Face of the Franchise changing?

Ever since Vlad Jr debuted there’s no doubt he’s been the number 1 guy in terms of popularity in the fanbase and around the league, but recently Alex Manoah has come into the spotlight and made waves. He might be the most beloved player right among our fans now, and people around the league are starting to talk about him, good and bad. He’s also having a spectacular season and has emerged as the bonafide ace despite coming into the season as #4. Now the reason I am asking this is because of this picture posted by SN. What do you guys think?

  2. Alek Manoah is without a doubt the best player on this team, so if that’s what you’re going by then yes, the face of the franchise has changed.

    Edit: a lot of clowns on this sub don’t seem to understand positional premiums and how much more valuable elite starting pitching is than an elite first baseman

  5. When they first interviewed Manoah, and he talked about his mom, and how sometimes she didn’t eat, but her kids always did, his honesty and frankness just blew me away. Especially with how normally sports athletes always give pre-canned, boring answers.

    He’s a pitcher that usually gets better when the pressure is on.

    I love this guy. Is he perfect? Absolutely not. Can his fan base turn on him if he ends up doing or saying something that’s offensive? I hope not.

    Fan for life here. As long as he never becomes a New York Yankee. Fuck the Yankees.

  6. I think Sportsnet just goes with the flavor du jour. 100% Manoah is our beat player this year but contextually Vlad is still the franchise

  7. I don’t think that the face of the franchise is changing. It’s always gonna be Vladdy.

    That said, I do think that the Jays org sort of realized at some point this summer that ALL their marketing can’t be Vladdy. Their failure in marketing their quiet star (Bo) properly led to pretty widespread misperception of his personality and team spirit, and they’ve clearly been actively course-correcting over the past month or so. Then with Manoah’s popularity at the ASG (and more recently with the defence of Kirk), they realized they had another personality goldmine that they’d been sleeping on.

    So while it will always be Vladdy, they’re clearly actively working on expanding how they market Bo and Manoah.

  10. I think we just added a new face is all. IMO Alec and Vladdy are both faces of the franchise and we have a big enough market that there is lots of room for them and more to step up/
