Rick Ball and Kelly hrudey are the đ commentating duo, that being said after that shit I heard in edmonton I think I’d almost prefer Cassie over that…
I don’t understand why this sub likes to beat up on Cassie. She’s more than fine and tries to add in a former player’s perspective.
I love Kelly Hrudey because him and Rick have a great dynamic, but you can’t convince me he adds anything of real substance to the broadcast.
Diversity was supposed to improve things but all it’s brought is a lowering of standards.
Cassie Campbell is amazingly adequate in my books. Unlike some people, I never really mind her on a broadcast but I am never really happy she is on it either.
The way Cassie gets hated youâd think sheâs the worst commentator in the league. Sheâs disliked so much that at this point sheâs UNDER rated. There are plenty of worse colour commentators around the league. Sheâs far better than she used to be and the people that beat up on her just sound to misogynists to me at this point honestly.
Kelly doesnât even know where he is half the time. There was a play last year where the Flames scored on a quick transition up the ice, out of their end. He lost count of passes after 2 and the call was word salad for the replay. Kelly is great as an intermission host on Hockey Night and I admire his advocacy for mental health, but he doesnât shine on colour.
Cassie isnât any worse than the other clowns that get trotted out to call colour for this team and actually has the odd insightful anecdote.
She is a below average colour commentator, IMO…during replays she literally describes what everyone can see themselves, offering little original insight or analysis. I think her skills are better suited to being one of the talking heads in the studio in intermissions and pre-game.
All that said, some of the extreme hate she gets is pretty nasty and unwarranted.
