  1. Well one of the positives is that bad shooting can be reversed. The negative is the team is still awful at defending physical driving teams. We also need a true backup PG. Rozier and especially Bouk are NOT it

  2. The Hornets may struggle to be competitive this year without a healthy Gordon Hayward and whether people like it or not, Miles Bridges on the floor. It’s the preseason so there are things to work on and they have to get use to a new system under Coach Clifford. If Gelo makes the team it will be because he is good at moving without the ball and creating space, but right now he isn’t moving without the ball that great which is unfortunate because that limits the amount of opportunities he will get the ball passed to him and get into a shooting rhythm.

  3. Let’s face it the hornets aren’t lucky enough to land the first pick. But fuck it let’s try. Trade anyone with value.

  4. Some thoughts:

LaMelo is improving as a scorer. He showed a lot of footwork in the lane he hadn’t previously and his midrange game is expanding. That turnaround middy and the jumpstop to draw a foul were pretty impressive and things he wouldn’t have done last season.

On Bouknight I don’t think we have set him up for success at all. His strengths are primarily off-ball (running off screens, cutting, and playing off the catch). Having him take the ball up the court and trying to break down defenses with his dribble failed predictably. If you watched him in the G-league last year he had the same problem. I think he still showed some good stuff playing downhill and passing and his defense is alright. If we want to see him at his best he needs to play with LaMelo, Gordon, or DSJ. Someone that can actually orchestrate an offense and handle the ball that he can play off of not Terry Rozier.

Bryce McGowens could be a really special scorer. He has lead guard potential imo. He is not comparable to Bouknight. His ceiling is much higher.

Mark and Kai are legitimately talented and have special tools. Playing them in garbage time lineups with no spacing does not give us any insight into their abilities at all.

  5. Bouk just got plain schooled out there. He fumbled the dribble or had it stolen or had his rhythm cut off almost every time he tried to do anything besides pass. Awful. Everyone is right, McGowens looks better.

    Plumlee and Richards are pukeworthy.

Anyone know why DSJ wasn’t on the floor?

  6. These players don’t play well together. They don’t seem to compliment each others play styles.

  7. I know it’s preseason, but I’m not encouraged by the fact that whenever 2 or 3 of our starters come off, the team is significantly worse (outright bad, to be honest, especially without LaMelo/P.J.). In particular, Nick Richards and Bouk haven’t been good at all, and they’re likely going to be in the rotation this season. It’s a problem because we can’t just completely rely on the 7 or 8 players who are actually ‘good’, especially Gordon Hayward – we’re eventually going to have to play guys who may negatively impact the team.
