  1. Honestly not worried. Hajek was a complete and total liability. Please send him back.

  2. Kakko scored twice.

    Kid line dominated.

    Hajek was bad.

    Jones looked good.

Halak wasn’t good but he also found out he was playing like 5 minutes before puck drop so whatever

The result does not matter at all. These games do not count.

  3. Welp. I’ve seen better games for sure. Our defense looked so out of wack, and our RW situation is clearly pretty dire.

Obviously it’s just the preseason but Kravtsov looks lost 90 percent of the time and Kaapo is still developing his game. Then we’ve got Vesey who was unnoticeable tonight.

Regardless, it looked like a western conference game out there tonight. Little to no defense, subpar goaltending, the list goes on. But hey at least the score was high

  4. It’s supposed to be good for the game to be aired on TNT and whatever but my God I do not care to listen about other NHL teams

  5. That second line was nightmarish. I know it’s preseason but Jesus it was just Panarin out there most of the time. Rydahl also had a pretty bad game, unfortunately. 1 bad game might be enough to seal him out with the 4th line being so contested

  6. Kakko can’t fit in the mold because he was a slam dunk #2 pick.

But as someone who often defends Gorton, the number of first round European picks not translating to the US is just so alarming Lias. Nils was subpar. And Kravstov seems to be on that list soon.

The one who was supposed to be the lost unknown project was Chytl and he’s the only one that’s carved a full time NHL role on day 1.

  7. Rangers with Blais/Rydahl/Goodrow on the ice: shot attempts 2-11, scoring chances 1-6, high dangers 0-2, xGF% 14%

the BOS player who all 3 of them played against the most: Vinni Lettieri

  8. I’m not overly concerned about Kravtsov. He’s still adjusting back to NHL hockey albeit in preseason. If we’re several real games in and he still looks lost, that’s a problem. But I’ll try not to overreact to preseason.

  9. GG said nothing will be handed to Krav. Has he earned a spot?

    Reposting from the Game Thread:

    Current lineup
    Kreider-zib-?
    Panarin-Trocheck-?
    Laf-Chytil-Kakko
    ?-?-?
    ? (healthy scratch)

    6 spots. Who fills them?
Goodrow, Reaves, and Blais take 3 spots.

All signs point to Krav getting a shot on the 2nd line even though he hasn’t stood out to me at all this preseason.

    Leaves 2 of the following:
    Vesey
    Hunt
    Carpenter
    Rydahl
    Brodz
    Gauthier

    Who’d folks go with?

  10. 9 giveaways, 1/4 PP, and a whole lot of bullshit tbh, but it wouldn’t Rangers hockey without bullshit right?

Kakko scored twice, even if the second was kind of a steal, but that counts and its all that matters to me

And again, if I wanted to watch a Boston broadcast I’d go and fucking watch a Boston broadcast. A disgusting majority of the game was nothing but talking about literally *anything* about the Bruins. How hard is it *REALLY* to be capable of talking at the very least somewhat evenly about two teams that are rivals?????? I can only imagine how many more people would find it interesting if they talked about more than 1 team.

Not to mention some of the usual terrible camera angles, like Panarin’s “crosscheck”. A single replay starting with him behind the ice taking a crosscheck, then reacting to it right as he’s already halfway out of the shot.

As much as it sucks to miss a game, I honestly don’t think I’m gonna watch another TNT broadcast ever again. Holy fuck. It’s only a pre-season game and I’m sick of their shit already.

  11. These preseason games have been really good. Loved the intensity tonight.

Really psyched to see this kid line come regular season. They’re buzzing. GG has to find them more ES minutes this year. We’ve seen promise in preseasons before that hasn’t translated. This year just seems different.

Very worried about injuries if Hajek is the 7th d. I’ve never hated him, but I just don’t think he’s anything more than depth defensemen who you have to use sparingly. He looked better with Welinski. Bartkowski looked even worse mind you.

Lindgren plays such a rough style that you know he’s going to miss games during the year and there really is no one who can fill that void right now.

Nothing beats hockey though. Can’t wait for the season to start!

  12. On a normal night Hajek should be fired on a rocket to the moon and Bartkowski should be in Hartford so I’m not too worried about them. But Kravtsov is supposed to be playing in our top 6 and he still looks lost out there. It’s not like he’s making mistakes like being a second late to the play or making the wrong decision with the puck, dude is sometimes just straight up facing the wrong way.

But with the kids line being our best line night in and night out during this pre-season, you’d be insane to break them up.

Gonna need Kravtsov to step way the fuck up.

  13. Does anyone else think the kid line should be over bread/trocheck /krav? Honestly they’re more deserving of second line minutes right now

  14. Kreider looked off. Mika looked good. Vesey looked good enough that I think he earned a deal either with us or someone else.

Trocheck needs time to learn to play with his linemates and he looks way too similar to Bread on the ice. I constantly found myself mixing them up in the first period.

Kravtsov looked like a victim of Trocheck and the experience they lacked together. He needs to fix his positioning issues. he can’t be everywhere on the ice like he was in the KHL. He needs to play his position.

Kid line looked absolutely dominant. Kakko is, yet again, ready to take the next step.

4th line looked bad. too much journeyman mentality. guys need to play their position and not chase everything. this will improve for all of them.

I think Miller and Trouba were exposed by the top Boston line but tbh everyone is.

I thought Jones was good, but Schneider was VERY good tonight. Hajek was better than I expected and I think he earned the 7th slot, another thought that’ll get me some hate.

Halak made some very good saves and let some expected goals in. I don’t fault him and was happy with his performance as a last-minute starter. he’ll be a good backup goalie this year.

I expect a really good game Saturday. it will be interesting to see who sits.
