  1. I watched his post-game and that is the most subdued and dejected that I have ever seen him.

  2. Manoah will be even better after this, I truly believe that. He is going to feed off this loss and it is going to fuel the absolute hell out of him.

  3. What’s the problem, I rather have my ace down like this than him being happy smiley after the game

  4. We weren’t winning no matter how well he pitched. The team looked like they were swinging a plastic kids toy bat

  5. Poor guy. He had a rough start but he showed toughness in getting through it. This loss is definitely not all on him.

  6. Small consolation, but they couldn’t have gotten to the playoffs without him. Plus, even on a day when he didn’t have his best command, he battled and gave them some solid innings.

  7. This honestly almost made me tear up a little. It’s wild how much I want these guys to be happy

  8. It was one tough inning. The offense did nothing to support him. Hope it doesn’t weigh on him too much

  9. It is getting to all the boys. Unfortunately Manoah doesn’t get the chance to come out and kick ass tomorrow. I am sure he will be a good dugout guy as usual but if we don’t win the series his great year goes out on that note. That would probably motivate him more haha, but Hopewell haven’t seen the last of him this year.

Also, Scherzer is getting blasted right now. It happens 🙈

  10. So many moronic comments about the offense being bad. Do these idiots not understand how good Seattle’s pitching is and was during this game?

  11. Man he had Julio down 2 strikes and plunked him to lead off game…. If he k’d him instead, entirely different game….welp that’s baseball and he’ll shut out the Astros on Tuesday

  12. Castillo looked like an Ace. Pitching will almost always beat hitting when it’s on. Manoah didn’t pitch horrible, but hitting Julio twice was so bad. Especially in the first inning to lead off the game and with an 0-2 count, it changes the whole complexion of the inning and game.

Not saying if he didn’t hit Julio the homerun wouldn’t have happened or the Jays would have won, but the Jays didn’t score any runs because of a lack of approach. They were facing off against a guy throwing and locating 2 different 100mph fastballs with different looks, combined with the off-speed stuff. Could have had 9 Barry Bonds out there and end up with the same result.

I feel like our only chance would have been to have a performance that matched Castillo, get it into extra innings and hope for a walk off.

Anyways, it’s not over. Jays were down 2-0 in 2015 and won 3 straight. Jays have lost the first game of series this year and won the next 2 to turn it around. And most importantly, they’re not going to see Castillo again this series. Hopefully Jays can score first tomorrow and get the crowd into it.

  13. All I can think of is how much better he will be after this. He had one bad inning and he knows it and that’s okay. What matters is what happens next, not what just happened.

  14. The guy is pretty well a rookie. This was his first full season. He battled back through a really tough start. He could have given up one through 7 and still lost the game.

  15. Can win if you don’t score. I feel for Alek but it’s not on him. Good thing there is a game tomorrow. Winning time boys.

  16. He could have pitched a 1 run gem and we would still have lost. This game is not really on him.

  17. He’d probably go out tomorrow and put up 6 scoreless, if needed. First playoff inning jitters, then he was solid.

  18. Well, honestly, the hitters weren’t hitting, so the loss is not his alone.

    We love Alex. No worries.

  19. He had a rough start, but a team that can’t even come close to bouncing back in nine innings at the plate doesn’t deserve to be in the playoffs. Was the top of the lineup* hoping Manoah would pitch a no-hitter and they’d win with a Jansen solo homer? Are any of them moping around and blaming themselves for the loss?

    *Not you, Georgie.

  20. I was at the game. The first inning was rough. It was like the air got let out of the balloon and everyone knew it wasn’t going back in.

  21. Manoah’s lack of fastball command was weird. Never seen it that bad. To his credit (and Kirk’s) he was able to navigate nearly another 5 innings effectively with just the slider and occasional changeup.

Being a “battler” is cliché but that’s exactly what he was after the 1st. Mad props for the way he competed.

  22. It has to be another regular day. I know both sides were pumping with adrenaline but it’s just baseball.

    Hit those locations.

Read the opposing pitcher to string some hits.

No base running, fielding or throwing errors today. Just the normal LOB.

    We should have lost 1-0

  23. I get it. You can’t win with no runs.

That said. Being down 3 buzz take SO MUCH pressure off the other team.

    Particularly the opposing starter.

It’s a bigger deal than it seams. It’s a huge deal.
