  1. What do ya’ll think? Trial by fire in the NHL, or the safe route to develop in the AHL. Wouldn’t be surprised by either

  2. He needs to go to the AHL, at least to start to year. Injuries will probably force him back into the NHL, but he’s looked very raw so far

  4. I really think he should be in GR this season. There is no need to plug him in the 3rd pair. Senators were on cloud 9 picking Sanderson 5th OA. Even he took 2 years to develop before his arrival.

  5. I think Lalonde’s said he’s open to carrying 13F and 8D, so I won’t be shocked if the Wings start with Edvinsson, Hagg and Oesterle rotating into that bottom pairing. If he doesn’t adjust the way they’re hoping, they can always send him down to GR. Walman’s returning sometime around mid-November, IIRC, so the team has a bit of a window here. I think they might experiment a bit.

  9. He’s far too valuable for us in the long term, so I say he starts in GR and gets called up when needed.

    As well as he’s progressed this preseason, I don’t see the need to throw him into the fire right out the gate and potentially hamper his confidence early. Let him develop in GR for a bit and then he’ll be the star he’s primed to be

  11. Let Edvinsson mature and get top pairing minutes in the AHL. You can see incredible potential but he had a bit of a bumpy preseason overall.

  12. The entertaining part of this quote is that almost every reply I’ve seen (on any site) starts with “he’s definitely starting in” and then there is a perfect split between Detroit/GR.

  13. Seems to me if you want a new data point on Edvinsson and you had a choice between the Toronto Marlies (last nite) or the Leafs (tonight) you choose the latter. Unless you’ve already decided that he starts in GR. I think that’s what’s happened. And he’ll be joined by Soderblom.

  14. His preseason wasnt amazing, it was just good. As a result id let him go be amazing in GR myself

  15. I think he gets the nod until Walman returns. Then it will be reevaluation time to see if he stays all season or heads down. All I know is I can’t watch Oesterle play every game until Walman returns. So either Eddy, AJ, McIsaac, Sebrango, etc needs to be up here.

  19. Just my humble opinion, but as much as I like him, he needs (and will start in) GR for a year.

  26. He’s starting the year in Detroit. He’s been significantly better than any of the guys available to play 3rd pairing LD.
