  1. He’s not wrong. That’s why the shift from Montoyo to Schneider was so effective. You need the players to be held accountable.

  2. While Sid is certainly a hot take artist and his opinions change with the wind, I honestly don’t entirely disagree here. I don’t expect a big change to be made and I understand that the right process is more important for the future than past results, but I’ve been pretty unimpressed with the vibe from the org since that game. It goes back further, though. While yes, we were the “best” offense this season, there were glaring issues (notably the similarities between hitters, particularly the extreme ground ball tendencies) on that side that have never been expressed as a concern of the team. I don’t want them to get complacent. The series was unacceptable and the regular season was not where it should have been either. I have seen nothing from anybody but Jordan Romano that suggests the team recognizes that.

  3. The idea that a radical change needs to happen or else the players will think “it’s okay” is absurd.

The players understand that blowing an 8-1 lead in a playoff game is not okay. You don’t need to change the entire course of the project to try to make that point to them. They get it.

  4. I can’t figure out which is more difficult. Looking at him or listening to him. This style of commentating is so boring and predictable

  5. Sid is a sweaty idiot who makes a career out of yelling nonsense at a camera. He’s a complete joke of a ‘personality’.

  6. Sid’s a catastrophist ass hat who only seeks to twist a knife for more eyeballs. He bails when the success comes and the positive narratives build. Don’t ever listen to him for actual substantive sports takes. I might not like Sportsnet but I thank god every broadcast I’m no longer going to get Sid clips popping up.

  7. Can we please stop spotlighting hot take people that more often than not have garbage takes

  8. Stop 👏🏻 giving 👏🏻 sports 👏🏻 talk-show 👏🏻 a 👏🏻 platform 👏🏻

But seriously, why are we acting like Sid has any knowledge on how to run a team ? What credentials does he have outside of screaming hot takes into a microphone.

  9. I kinda agree. But also don’t see a clear way of doing it without either Shapiro going which isn’t going to happen, a move that actually makes no difference (ie the manager) or setting the team back a few years (ie trading players).

  10. Sid, no one needs this energy when having their morning coffee. Stick to cat videos or whatever.

  11. Dude is right. Lack of attention to detail really burned this team at times during the last couple seasons and spectacularly during the playoffs.

  12. The clubhouse change was sacking montoyo and elevating Schneider and it was very effective. 8-1 was an absolute disaster but 2 playoff games is also a much smaller sample size than 162 games. This team needs a 5th starter, a better bullpen and a more impactful lefty bat than Tapia not some dramatic overhaul. Sid has always been an over-the-top hot take artist and im glad he’s no longer covering sports on a daily basis.

  13. Not having a competent bullpen is and has been the biggest problem with this team for as long as I can remember.

  14. Sid chose a shirt without buttons so that he could keep his jugular vein unfettered in case it swelled massively during delivery of his fiery takes.

  15. I agree with Sid and something needs to happen but I’m not sure what it could be. Maybe a really experienced manager but I didn’t mind the one that stepped in. I just think they needs some tweaks but that’s about it

  16. For me when Teo came out for a curtain call after the second home run. What are you doing? You haven’t won yet.

  17. It’s easy to sit there and say all this when you have nothing to lose. Yes there needs to be changes, but does it matter who manages the team? All managers in baseball follow the same regiment. They go with the odds, lefty vs righty, picture shouldn’t go passed x-amount of pitches and never 3 times through the line up, God forbid. They’re all the same.

  18. Perhaps this monologue would mean anything if Sid had any credibility left. I just see this as yet another pseudo-emotional hot take. “You’re angry and here’s why I can justify you being angry”. I dunno, it just sounds like coddling to me. Is he right? Could be. But I’m not going to assign a lot of value to what someone who has made a career off of being reactionary has to say. I highly doubt he has any insight into what it’s actually like in the locker room of either the Jays, Leafs, or for any team that has actually had post-season success for that matter.

  19. He’s absolutely right you don’t want this turning into a leafs thing where they just fall apart like that annually. I don’t know what the answer is though. Lots of warts on the team but 99 times out of a hundred they win that game no matter how bad they play. That was just one of those weird things.

That shit sticks with you though they are going to be very tight going forward.

  20. Garbage takes like this is why this man hosts breakfast television and doesn’t manage or coach a pro-sports team.

  21. Sid’s another talking head sports guy that has to have an amplified opinion.

It’s not complicated what the Jays need. They need better pitching and to let these guys continue to mature.

Kikuchi and to a lesser degree Berrios were a significant disappointment. The bullpen was also a significant disappointment.

The changes I would make is to spend dollars wisely on a proven and reliable bullpen arm, a fourth starter and I’d replace Pete Walker.

The team finished second in the AL Beast and lost game one to arguably the best pitcher in baseball and had a collapse of the bullpen in game 2.

Let’s not panic and listen to sports talking heads, because their job is to make people panic and create controversies. Controversies = viewers.

  22. I think Sid is spot on.

As much as I generally can’t stand him (it’s all gone downhill since the ice dance rant) I give Sid lots of credit here. CityTV is owned by Rogers Media. The fact that he’s saying **ANYTHING** of substance sets him apart from every other apologist corporate shill that reports on the Jays.

  23. Change for the sake of change is bad. You have to make changes that improve the team. It seems like Sid thinks big changes are needed but lacks an actual articulable roadmap as to what big changes would actually make the team better. It’s easy to say make big changes but it’s also just as easy to shit on people if those big changes backfire. At the end of the day I still think we have the right manager, I don’t know what the answer is to improve the outcome but I’m pretty sure it isn’t to fire the guy that helped improve the record as much as he has.

  24. I agree with Sid. They didn’t win because they didn’t have Kawhi Leonard throwing shutdown relief innings.

  25. There’s some truth in what he’s saying. That was the biggest collapse in playoff history, ever. I don’t think it’s necessarily a trade that needs to happen but there does need to be change. People talk about how the sample size isnt big enough but from what we’ve seen, it hasn’t been impressive at all. 2019 for the Raptors was such a one off, that won’t be replicated for some time, every thing fell into place for us that year. The Leafs are perennial losers and I never want to hear about them until they * *checks notes* * win a round…

  26. Sid saying ‘no mas’ is his no balls way of saying the issue is with the Latino players on the squad. From changes “at the top” to that comment…. Typical covering of the asshole so you can come back later and say told you so in glorious 6-6-0 style.

Hey Sid. You know what else works? Selling a team to another city. That would basically save people the stress as well. How long before we hear that from your dumbass? 🤣

  27. He’s had some questionable takes in the past. I’ve listened to him and Sid since 2014, when they were on The Fan together. This is one of his better takes.

  28. If we put Cathal Kelly and Sid Sexiero in a room the amount of hot air being spewed would lift the room into low earth orbit;

Christ, I think I actually physically got stupider listening to this take.
