  1. Hey whaddya know? The world wasn’t ending after game 1.

Now let’s give Holl credit for a couple great plays in the final minutes.

  2. Better effort tonight. Definitely improved on some details from last night and I thought the Leafs controlled more of the play and had fewer mistakes.

Gotta give Holl credit for getting in front and blocking a couple of Ovi’s one-timers on the PK. The kill was also huge all game but especially in that third period.

Probably one of Matthews’s ‘ugliest’ goals, but hey, that’s #1 of 60+ we’ll see this year.

  3. Say what you want bout Holl, but the dude can PK like no other on the team. Those blocked shots he ate were HUGE

  4. Glad they picked the win for sure, but they definitely didn’t make it easy for themselves! LOL

They need to clean up their passing and overall teamwork, but it’s only game 2, so lots of time to get it sorted.

  5. People should check money puck on who led the Leafs in possession.

    Muzzin.

Holl was also incredible – particularly in the last 5 minutes.

  6. Shitting the bed against the Habs and then beating the Capitals the next night – Leafs hockey is back, baby

  7. Oshie was really being the biggest whiner tonight. Being a dirtbag around the ice then wondering why he wasn’t getting calls after getting taken down in the corner

  8. Samsonov was the opposite of Murray last night. Murray looked great to start but as the game went on I felt less and less comfortable as he got a bit more scrambly and let 3 unscreened or tipped goals in. Samsonov though started shaky but as time went on looked better and better. Wants the 2nd back Im sure but it didnt sink his game.

  9. Keefe playing Holl/Muzzin in the last minute was a big F*** You to us folks on r/leafs. LOL

  10. Samsonov shook off the early jitters and showed up. We played a lot better this game. Also, fuck the refs

  11. Gio-Sandin got caved a few times, might be an issume going forward. Other two pairs were excellent. Holl and Muzzin aren’t perfect but the overreaction to game 1 was ridiculous (though understandable due to the high profile error from Muzz).

Really liking Engvall-Kerfoot-Jarnkrok. Everyone pretty much does everything decently.

  12. Pretty good game all things considered from Samsonov. When he gave away those two goals I thought we were in for a loooong night. But he shut the door for the rest of the game, and it’s exactly what the Leafs needed to win.

  13. Willy, Tavares, Marner and Matthews were fantastic tonight. Willys compete was great tonight, he’s still second guessing himself on his chances but who cares, if he plays like that I’ll take a messed up 2 on 1 a game every time.

Bunting got a bit distracted for a lot of the game, but the leafs might want him to be a pest like that.

Also, for as much hate as Holl gets, getting in front of an ovi one timer that many times takes a ton of balls.

Leafs played a great 60 mins overall.

  14. Anyone else watch this on TSN and annoyed by the broadcast overlay changing ads on the boards constantly and jittery placement, it’s so distracting from the game.

  15. Sammy, in his post game…

*Reporter: You played with Ovi, did you talk to him today? What did he say?*

*Sammy: A lot of bad words*

  16. Definitely some positives to build on. Top six played well, Muzz showed he may actually have something left, Gio was solid and propped up his pairing, JT actually looks healthy and quicker, and most importantly our goaltending showed up. I also liked for the most part we played low event hockey in the third period and didn’t give them too much.

  17. I posted the Matthews hit on /r/hockey and it’s getting a pretty heft downvote ratio lol.
