  1. I remember 10 year old me vividly running around the house screaming. One of my best sports memories

  2. I was absolutely stunned by the 2006 season. I was still in the womb when the Tigers won in 84. For pretty much my entire life the Tigers had been a complete mess. It was almost unfathomable that this could happen. The brief period where the Tigers were true contenders is bittersweet now, but in the moment it was something truly special.

  3. This is easily in my top 3 favorite sports moments of my life. I was at Buffalo Wild Wings watching and the entire place exploded when this happened. Strangers were hugging strangers.

I have blocked the WS from my memory though.

  4. I was 13, my dad sat me down and said “watch this game, it’s important”. This was the first game I watched, start to finish. I screamed with my dad when Magglio hit this HR. A core memory for sure! My dad and I have always shared the tigers since. He was right, that game was important. Love you dad.

  5. I was in the upper deck about halfway down the third base line. I managed to get tickets and my parents came up to go to the game with me. The Tigers were trailing through the first half of the game, but you still had a feeling they were going to find a way. I think it was in the eight when the A’s managed to load the bases on three straight walks (and I also think it was 12 straight balls). But the Tigers found their way out of it and the ninth inning is history.

My dad still texts me on the anniversary saying it was one of the most memorable nights of his life.

  6. My dad took me to this. My first playoff game, I was 11.

Was in section 217ish, I remember the dudes in front of me being absolutely hammered, standing up on their chair and subsequently falling on me after Mags went deep. LOL.

  7. I went to this game with my dad when I was 9 and it was my first playoff game. We had seats around section 123 looking down the 3rd-base line, perfect angle to see the ball fly into the towels as the crowd rose like a wave. Still cemented in my memory. Walking in, I was so confused by the brooms people were bringing in with them, my dad told me “It’s because when the Tigers win, it’s considered a sweep”. Leaving the game they were passing out iced tea drinks (pre-recession late 2000s games always had free drinks when you left) and we were high-5ing people from within our car. Easily the best night of my life and it’s made me a die-hard fan since. To see what a moment can do for a city and a state, it definitely makes an impact. Eat ‘em up Tigers!! Miss those days

  8. I think many of us know exactly where we were and what we were doing during this exact moment, something I never hope to forget, still gives me chills to this day.

  9. There is nothing better in the world than Tigers playoff baseball imo. Hope we get back there sooner than later.

  10. Great moment I’ll never forget. My late father bought his first flat screen television that day for this game.

  11. This was the last time my father and I watched a Tigers game together. I moved to California a few days later and he passed away about a month and a half later. I still can hear my father yelling there it goes as the ball left Maggs bat.

  12. I was in the section where the ball landed. I’ve seen some amazing games live, but this will probably be my best sports memory ever.
