The draft class called the worst by Kiper and laughed at by those in the NFL is right now off to a good start. If we don’t hear Strange’s name this year, then he’s done his job well.

  1. Beyond impressed with the way the rookie CBs are playing. I was very concerned the secondary was going to be a liability after losing Jackson without an obvious replacement. Not only have the rookies not been liabilities, they’ve strengths and have played as well as anyone on the team.

  2. Is it Kiper that Insider that you have to pay to read. Goes to show you, if so, about Insiders and the draft.

  3. “If Jimmy Clausen is not a successful quarterback in the NFL, I’m done. That’s it. I’m out.”

    -Mel Kiper, 2010

  4. Everyone on that list except Hines and Steuber saw the field today. That is actually really impressive, and in addition to that Schooler and DaMarcus Mitchell have been playing well on special teams. We had 10 rookies get snaps today!

  5. Still haven’t seen anything from Harris or strong. Them playing says nothing, we were just down a RB or 2 and needed to give Stevenson a break

  6. The complaint was not about picking the wrong players. Its about not trading down enough. You can’t evaluate the players picked on draft day, because you don’t have enough info for that. But you have enough info to judge the value of the picks and how they were used. No one was saying they couldn’t become great players, but when every single pick is selected a full round or more earlier than anyone else could have been looking at them for, you’re not utilizing your draft assets well.

  7. This was very much a “In Bill I trust” draft class for us. Not sure I liked it myself, but I’ve learned that Belichick knows more than I do about football.

  8. Bill had had some rocky drafts in there, especially with high end picks but this more than makes up for one of those years.

  9. Five have made a considerable impact on the team, three have scored at least one touchdown, and one was a starter from day one, and a good one at that.

    So far so good.

  10. Judging any draft before 3 years have passed is and will always be an exercise in futility. You just don’t know for a long time whether you drafted well in any given year. This could turn out to be a bad draft. Right now it looks good.

This is a big reason why I pay so little attention to draft coverage and mocks and stuff. It’s ultimately meaningless. These people all act like they KNOW and they don’t know at all.

  11. Fortunately, most of the time we hear Strange’s name, it’s because he’s road grading opponents.
