  1. I was at a Jays vs Yankees game at Rogers Centre (Skydome) circa 2006 – the Jays won on a V Wells walkoff homerun in extras is a main memory!

However earlier that afternoon my dad and myself went very early to batting practice and were very sad to have not one Jays player stick around for autographs.. we’re from Nova Scotia so a live Jays game is not an everyday occurrence.

My dad did what he could to distract me that afternoon from my initial disappointment – being a kid, my attention was easily shifted to the energy of the game about to start.

3ish weeks later – my dad is excited to show me what came in the mail. Both pictures and plastic cases you see above. A Jays Christmas in the summer haha.

Turns out he had emailed (very politely I need to add) the Jays main contact email via their website and explained he had a disappointed 12y/o baseball playing son that wished he could’ve gotten an autograph or 2.

In response, they sent these pictures. RIP Roy (and those black jerseys), thank you Vernon for hitting that walkoff in my first ever MLB game, and thank you Jays for giving me a family heirloom that I treasure every day. Roy was my idol.

    Go Jays 💙⚾️

  2. Thank you for sharing! Gives me all the feels. Sounds like you have a great dad as well 🥰

  3. I would highly recommend some penny sleeves for your cards. They can get scratched and damaged being in the top loader like that.
