Would we still be 3- 3 with this man?

  1. Genuinely curious how he would’ve done against the Broncos.

I think he would still win against the Rams, Seahawks, and Panthers. I think we would still lose against the falcons.

  2. The way Kyle was using him, probably.

The way he should have been used, I really don’t think so. I’d say, 4-2.

  3. Judging by how Shanahan used him I doubt it. Seeing as how there were sooo many designed runs, either Lance doesn’t know the entire playbook or he doesn’t have Shanahan’s trust to run it. I’m still not sold on him being ‘the best’ or being ‘the bust’, not enough game time to get a good read on him. And having a patch-work o-line isn’t helping any of our QBs.

  4. We would’ve lost to the rams but beat Denver and maybe Atlanta with him, I think. His legs would’ve helped jump start our O on a day where only Aiyuk showed up.

Then again, run blocking also sucked against ATL so probably 3-3 but 1-1 in division. I say we lose to LAR because despite our defense killing it, Lance doesn’t get have the quick release that is their kryptonite.

  5. QB play was as bad as it could be against the Broncos but their defense is legit. It’s possible we score slightly more, also possible we don’t score anything. Probably win against the Seahawks/Panthers still, I don’t know about the Rams.

The thing is with both our starting tackles out, game plan is entirely different. Jimmy feasts on those tunnel screens and short passes that completely neutralize a pass rush. Trey ‘s accuracy is hardly there for those types of throws, it’s not inconceivable that we look like the Falcons in terms of passing. Otherwise he’s just a sitting duck waiting to be hit by DE’s. I will say if last week’s game was any indication of our pass catchers in deep balls, stronger arm doesn’t matter. About 5 throws over 25 yards that should have definitely been caught or had a good chance (Aiyuk’s attempted catch on Jimmy’s underthrow is caught by a better receiver who jumps at point of attack) were not. At some point it’s not just luck, the team just does’t have the personnel for it.

But anyway tldr; maybe, maybe not.

  6. I think we do better against Denver and ATL but Seattle and LA are much closer games. Probably still 3-3 but at least we would be getting a sense of the guy they traded a fortune to get.

  7. Lance throwing the ball wouldn’t have stopped those crucial balls from being dropped last week

  8. The offense right now is averaging 15 points a game minus the Panthers game which got away in the 4th quarter. That’s a pretty low bar for a NFL offense. I don’t think it’s out of the realm of possibility for a 4-2 or the same 3-3 record with Lance.

  9. I think we would be 3-3, BUT we hopefully would be seeing his growth with game action. That would set us up to get hot in the second half of the season.

Jimmy did ok last game. Receivers dropped a lot of catchable balls. The problem I see is that we’ve already seen the ceiling of Jimmy

  10. I think he wins us the Broncos game an account that Jimmy couldn’t possibly play much worse so anything would probably be an upgrade.

I think we probably drop the falcons game with all the drops, penalties, etc.

  11. I wouldn’t care tbh. Just saw mahomes and Allen being compared to Peyton and Brady. Got envious but I can see why they picked Lance. The kid’s right behind them.

  12. I think we would be, we win the Seahawks, Rams, Panthers regardless. If anything we could be 4-2 over the Broncos since he may have found more opportunities on the ground to mix it up. But probably still 3-3.

Which we wouldn’t matter as much to me since Lance would be getting the reps he needs. Who knows how opponents game plans change tbh.

The monsoon game is definitely not a fair judgment for him and he was playing solid the first drive and a half of the game against Seattle. It’ll suck going into year 3 with no idea what he can do

  13. Most likely but hey atleast we could’ve seen him develop instead of same old same old with Jimmy

  14. It doesn’t matter since it’s only a hypothetical.

You can say yes or no and be both right or wrong.

For a pure thought experiment, in my opinion, Kyle was running Trey a lot because he wasn’t ready to pass and there were things that Trey needed to work on throughout the season to get better.

From what I could tell from the Seahawks game before he got hurt, it could of been a game much like how Jimmy had it. So probably still a W.

    1-1

The Broncos game, Jimmy was a lot of the problems with that game. It’s entirely possible that Trey comes to this game and whoops their ass or because he is in a hostile environment, a mile up in the air, and in his first prime time game, shits the bed.

For the sake of argument, let’s say he wins that game.

    2-1

Rams game, the Defense/Hufanga grants Lance 7 points plus whatever else the offense manages to score.

    3-1

Carolina is a bad team in general, win.

    4-1

Falcons was a team loss, injuries have piled up, Wilson fumbles the ball, dropped balls galore.

    4-2

We may be one game better or overall the same with Lance at the helm. You just never know because it isn’t reality. Lance could lshit the bed those next games and become the biggest bust in history. You just can’t ever know for certain.

  15. Probably – our defense cost us a couple with bad penalties and injuries and drops by the WRs can’t be helped.

  16. We’d probably be worse if the pass catchers are struggling to catch Jimmy gimmes

  17. Trey probably would have had trouble getting rid of the ball in the face of the quality defensive lines they have faced. I wouldn’t have expected him to make significant strides until around the bye week.

  18. I’d say its 50/50. He might have pulled out the win against the Broncos but Jimmy was playing really well against the Falcons. Major dropped passes and the Jeff Wilson fumbled were the main issues offensively, neither of which Trey would have fixed.

  19. I can honestly say that I don’t think we would be. Jimmy G knows how to win games and Lance well he hasn’t even played a half of season yet I’m kinda glad that he went down because Jimmy could get us to the Super Bowl

  20. I doubt we’d even be 3-3, but that’s okay. He needs the snaps to develop. Oh well, next year!

  21. We’ll never know.

I don’t blame him loosing against the Bears, and i

don’t think Jimmy g is our Savior.

  22. Really, who cares? He’s out.

Rock with the players we have. Hopefully Trey comes back next year and lives up to the hype.

Arguing about what our record would be with Trey at qb is a pointless exercise.

That said, nah- we’d be like 1-5. Carolina ain’t shit lol.
