  1. Yeah, I’ll get downvoted for this but I am worried about this season. I know, it’s only game 2 but it sucks when every other team got better and we stayed the same. we’ll only go far as Jimmy can carry us.

  2. People don’t want to admit it, but this roster construction has been below average. Have we done our best in years past with what we have because of a great scouting department and a top tier head coach? Yes. But I’d be lying to myself if this team is anyone near close to competing with the top dogs in the NBA — Warriors, Bucks, Celtics, etc. The talent level just isn’t there on our squad.

All that being said, I respect Riley for fielding a competitive team year in and year out without resorting to tanking.

  3. Call me a doomer or whatever. But this current team is cooked. Lack of size is obvious. Defense just isn’t there. There’s no way Caleb Martin can be a starting PF, especially in the East. Bunch of teams got better this offseason, Heat got worse. Lowry is beyond finished. Duncan is just there. Pat has a lot of work.

  4. 1. Defense: We’re too god damn small. We are gonna get constantly killed on the glass, especially against big teams like Bucks and Celtics. Caleb is good for perimeter defense but for a PF position we always succeeded with someone strong enough to snatch rebounds (or at least contest and box-out for rebound) and overcome their short height like Jae Crowder or PJ Tucker did.
    2. Offense: Tyler and Bam are okay scorers, but none of those two can find their buckets in the 4th quarter when the defense tightens up. No wonder why both struggled mightly during the playoffs.
    3. We got complacent and didn’t make any improvement during the offseason while we were going for whales like KD and Spida. This is very reminiscent of 2020 offseason and the following season was a complete disaster.

You can say I’m overreacting after two games but this team is looking mid af boys, at least we’re certainly not looking like a contender. This shit looking like 20-21 season again.

  5. As much as we hate them, this shows that the Celtics are absolutely elite and are a tier above us

I did envision an 0-4 start worst case scenario for us but man I don’t want to be right, Raptors are gonna exploit our weaknesses on those b2b games

Fortunately the schedule gets easier later on but stinking it up early won’t do good for morale

  6. We’re just too small and why is gabe Vincent taking a majority of our shots in the fourth with Lowry butler Herro and bam there. That can’t happen

  7. We need a PF. The offense is what it is but the defense and rebounding is inexcusable.

    Make a move, Pat.

  8. We make offense look so hard for long stretches of time. It’s infuriating.

And then in those same stretches we’re giving up easy baskets.

  9. Sucks to be 0-2. But don’t think we played terribly. Apart from our run in the 3rd Q to make it 69-69, we just always kept the game within 5-10 points and when we had our best defensive stretch (93-100 ballgame) the offense just couldn’t close the gap.

  10. Eh. Competitive loss to the best team in the East. Nothing to freak out about. They hit some tough shots. Some of the rotations were shaky but Spo does that early.

Martin might be in over his head though.

  11. We suck and this community sucks.

But seriously if you’ve already made up your minds in Game 2 out of 82 do yourself a favor and go be miserable watching the fucking Dolphins or something

  12. Bam aggression is encouraging these first few games. We obviously have stuff to figure out, and the trade deadline exists, so it’s not too bad.

  13. Moral of the story. We are a good team, but made no improvement or adjustments from last season which clearly wasn’t good enough. We literally did NOTHING in the off-season but lose PJ. Guys play the same way as well but also looks like we aren’t playing with that chip on our shoulder like last year. Jimmy needs to fix it quick and we may need a Haslem lashing soon

  14. I mean this is about what everyone expected right? We didn’t do shit in the off-season while literally every eastern team got better plus we lost PJ. Playing Highsmith at the 5 is the most “down bad” I’ve seen our team in some time

  15. Big 20-21 vibes; Caleb is going to be the Kelly Olynyk or Trevor Ariza of this season

  16. There are fundamental issues within this team that will continue to be exposed if they aren’t addressed. For one, Dewayne Dedmon should not be playing a legitimate competitive minute in the NBA. How they haven’t even tried kicking the tires on Boogie or Dwight is insane to me

  17. Bam getting shelved for 4 fouls is what sent us to the gulag, im disappointed we didn’t win but I’m not worried at all

  18. Not going to overreact too much to the second game of the season. But our size is a major concern. Caleb is just way too small to be our starting 4. Our rebounding is just terrible. Defense shows signs of being really good (when Bam is in) but it gets rendered useless because we can’t rebound. Not going to get too down on this loss though. Celtics are a great team and they showed it. But we have some question marks that need to be answered.

  19. Good to know how spoiled we’ve been when 0-2 is gloom and doom for the season. This sub would’ve been insufferable during the 15 win season

  20. whoa why is preseason so long this year? can’t wait for the season opener against the raptors

  21. I’m going to give it 20-25 games before I have a real opinion on where we are. We’re installing a new offensive system, where we are asking more from Bam, Herro and Caleb. That has to take time. The defense(outside of boxing out), was much better tonight. I believe we’ll get the boxing out stuff cleaned up.

That being said, it’s troubling how little we move the opponent’s defense during our offensive action. Feels like a lot of our late game possessions ended with off balance chuck-up shots, because there isn’t a good look available.

  22. Remember when y’all said not to worry if the heat didn’t make moves this off season lol

  23. So many doomers after a regular season loss to the title favorites. I have a lot of positive takeaways

    1. Bam and Herro both looked great
    2. Lowry looked much better
    3. Our starters outplayed their starters

    The negatives

    1. Caleb isn’t big enough to start, We need to trade for power forward and bring Caleb off the bench
    2. Dedmon is awful. It’s Yurts job when he’s healthy
    3. Spo needs to stop going tiny. Time for Jovic minutes and Highsmith isn’t the answer.

  24. It’s almost as if running back the exact same roster other than losing our starting power forward isn’t a recipe for success. Who could’ve expected this??

This feels like it’ll be a carbon copy of the post-bubble season. Over-achieve, sign nobody, fall back to earth.

    At least herro looks good!
