Hypothetical: You win a contest to contribute to Pats strategic meeting for rest of 2022 season – you say what?

You’re a lifelong NE fan – through a quirk of fate, you’ve been selected to sit in and contribute to a top coaches & front office meeting the Pats will be holding on anything they can change or opportunities/threats for the rest of this 2022 season.

You’re told NE feels open to a lot of options – will they buy or sell at trade deadline? Next year they’ll have a LOT of cap room – do they trust Bill alone to do the shopping for that? This years draft looks a keeper but was it luck or a reversion to old ways? etc

You’ve been told to bring along some ideas – could be on a trade (to or away), certain players you’d like to see played more or less, certain plays on O or D you’d like to see used more or less etc.

It’s been noted that no idea is too big or small but all need to be realistic (alas no 1st rounders available for trading Isiah Wynn!) – also they don’t want to hear problems alone – you must attach a solution or way to capitalise on where you see an opportunity.

Here’s our FA’s for next season – do we extend or try to trade for picks now?

Perhaps there’s opportunities on other team’s pending FA’s? A try before you buy type deal?

It’s a very strong AFC but NE feels great about it’s progress inspite of doubts for this season & Mac’s injury. They’re looking for outside the box feedback and ideas and not ‘yes men’ so they want it straight on what you really think?

So?

  1. Extend Jakobi. Balance the passing game. Give Bourne and Thornton bigger roles. Re-sign Damien Harris. Use Dugger to pressure the QB. Unrelated, but they should keep the throwback field design, and use the throwback uniforms more often.

  2. Take all of our drafts picks and trade for Julio Jones, Chandler Jones, Zay Jones, Chris Jones Aaron Jones, and Bryon Jones

Besides that, probably keep the change uniform. I trust Bill enough that I would only screw it

  3. Trade wise (not Deatrich lol)

I can’t see a role for any large additions, the team is quite deep and the mid season return seems marginal, cbs, safeties, lbs, DL, OL…everyone is playing well and continuing to improve. That said maybe we should trade away some extra pieces to build future picks, where the prime candidates would be Wynn, Agholor, Harris (Harris aint gonna happen though)

    Play wise

I feel like this team has a great mix of skill players that thrive at every level of the field but we’re just not maximizing that potential. Maybe even forcing the deep pass too much, so I’d like to Patricia and Judge to utilize Henry and Jonnu more. With all the deep shots we’ve put on film and the addition of Thornton, I feel like the intermediate middle of the field should be more productive.

  4. Literally nothing. Just taking in a once in a lifetime opritunity to hear the greatest football strategist of all time as he works thru the process.

  5. Let jonnu take snaps at FB, cut Wynn immediately, and run whatever offense mac thrives in. I think last year’s offense was good if not limiting for him, this year I don’t think you need to rewrite the whole playbook just give him deeper targets more often and remove “HB draw” from the playbook
