Stop piling on. Russ knows he is playing bad
If you squint hard enough you can see the ear piece to directly to Jeanie and Pelinka
“Change your personality and game completely”
Edit: why does everyone think I disagree with Magic? The point I’m making is that Westbrook isn’t going to be able to make these changes.
Russell Westbrook is terrible. He needs to retire, because his legacy is getting tarnished. People won’t remember his great seasons in the past, they’ll just remember his selfishness in his Lakers years.
Fuck man, as a thunder fan i hate seeing what has become of our guy.. really hope he’s able to get it together before he’s out of the league
Absolutely loving the Lakers game play this season!
Westbrook is awful, but the last person that should be talking is freaking Magic Johnson. Dude was completely unqualified for his role within the Lakers organization, he up and quit, he’s a mouthpiece for the owner, and he’s toxic. Fuck that guy.
“Take accountability.” Today’s players?
This is about as brutal as Magic gets.
This is the best way to say it. Magic honestly has good takes most of the time. He’s also very friendly with his delivery.
Westbrook’s tried to change, he just physically can’t. You can’t magically just improve as a shooter, especially 15 years into your career.
Fuck Magic.
This boils down to “Admit you played badly and then play better tomorrow”.
The problem is that I’m not sure Westbrook can play better tomorrow anymore (which is sad as shit).
What exactly did magic do poorly in the 1984 finals? Just looking at bbref it looks like he played pretty solid. 18/7/14 on 56% percent shooting.
I think the stop fighting is the most relevant. Watch the games during TOs. I see that dude jawing with some fan at least 10 times a game. He simply wants to fight anyone and everyone and it’s concerning.
Honestly I’ve only seen one game but from what I saw Westbrook besides shooting has been playing pretty well. I’m gonna get down voted most likely but he’s, from what I’ve seen, locked in defensively and hasn’t been too erratic with the ball in his hands and is moving around more than he was last year. I feel like people are only looking at his shooting splits, which are terrible, and assume he’s playing awful
I think my favorite part is when he suggests that all he has to do is win a championship to shut them up
People are going to forget how incredible prime westbrook was because he’s become so offensively and unapologetically bad at basketball in just a couple seasons. It’s truly amazing, I’ve never seen a player fall off this hard and so disgracefully. Genuinely used to be my favorite player in the league.
Problem is he cant change. Its not that he wants to and is not succeeding, this man literally CAN NOT and WILL NOT change. He’s done
-Take accountability
-No
*leaves the room*
They need to get Magic on TNT lol. He’s good. ESPN wasn’t the right environment for him.
I mean. This what people have been saying. Put the ego aside. Put the passive aggressiveness side.
I literally don’t think he can. Like he mentally and physically cannot do these things.
It’s good advice though
That was a great episode. I heard many things that I had never heard before.
The media sucks. The try to make anything into a big thing, but Westbrook’s attitude doesn’t help at all. It’s like fuel to the media’s fire.
this is all stuff that’s very obvious at this point, but it’s really important for someone who carries a lot of influence and respect amongst NBA players to finally say it
A rare “Thanks Magic” moment that’s actually helpful, thoughtful, and 100% on mark
