MLB Rumors: Dodgers ‘Serious Players’ for Aaron Judge; Could Let Trea Turner Walk

  1. I’d offer him 4 or 5 year deal worth ~$275 million but he likely wants a 10 year plus deal. Unfortunately I don’t see us offering him a deal that length.

  2. Don’t see this as being real. We have bigger needs in the infield, and Judge is going to want a 10 year plus deal which we won’t give him.

  3. I don’t want either of them. Spend the money into building a better bottom half of the lineup + bench to support Mookie and Freddie. Use the rest for pitching

  4. “The tangible impact of losing the presumptive American League MVP is obviously.”

Well, with writing like this, it’s pretty clear this guy knows what he’s talking about.

  5. Dude couldn’t hit down the stretch, and in the playoffs.. Really hard to see him leaving NY anyway

  6. He’s never going to have another 62-HR season. More importantly, he did little to establish himself as a postseason phenom, and that’s really what we need. With the rules changing next year to ban the shift, I think we really need to be looking at increasing the number of guys who can put the ball in play, consistently, and avoid strikeouts like the plague. With the shift gone, more contact will mean more hits, and getting that right will matter more than having one guy in the lineup who can hit 40-50+ HRs over a 162 game season.

  7. And here we go again ! Bullpen flames out in every playoff game loss for the last 3 years! Management: Lets spend 300 hundred million on Judge ! That will help.

  8. Too much injury history and a 6’7″ body isn’t going to play well mid to late 30s

Judge is a HARD pass from me personally.

MUCH bigger needs that a future albatross contract.

For Judge money, I will take my chances with Trea (assuming he wants to stay)

  9. I’d rather use the money on a replacement SS and bring in more Starter quality Pitchers along with some depth if possible with that money

  10. Trea Turner can walk .. That’s fine. He wants to get paid and he deserves it. Appreciate the time he spent here.

That said, IMO: You’re an idiot to think that Gavin Lux is the next and suitable replacement for the SS position. I watched approximately 85%-90% of the games played in the regular season. Gavin Lux as a fielder is a solid C+ (at best) to D+ (at worst). Hitting wise he’s a B+ (at best) to a C- (at worst). Don’t get me wrong: Gavin is “streaky freaky” and VERY capable of having A+ to A- performances at the plate for a week or three but he, like most eventually move towards the regressive mean. And on the field, he simply isn’t athletic as a fielder. And with the shift being gone next year means it’s gonna be a lot more difficult for infielders to play “straight up traditional style” baseball. Pretty sure that Blue Admin is well-aware of this and will be moving accordingly. Btw: I’m not saying to get rid of Lux! Just saying whomever the next SS will be: It’ll be challenging to fill Trea’s shoes 👟

  11. “Aaron Judge has broken the NL single season HR record with the Dodgers!”

    *playoffs start*

“Aaron Judge goes 2-18 in 12 strikeouts in the NLDS!”

  12. The one thing I like about Judge is that he’s a great player and he hasn’t had that break out postseason *yet.* It’s reasonable that if he gets enough playoff shots, he has a monster one eventually. We want hungry players, he will come hungry.

The downside is he prob costs more than is worth paying a single player usually

  13. We already have a team comprised of players that either A) hit homers, or B) strike out. We don’t need another.

  14. Dodgers are going to for sure be “in the mix” for everyone. There isn’t an agent in the world that wouldn’t drop the Dodgers name to push his player. Every available free agent will be “in talks” with the Dodgers this is nothing new.

  15. I think Dodgers are good on offense. I want pitching. Overload it. Have like 7 or 8 starters on the roster. Would rather have two starters in the bullpen knowing that at least two starting pitchers get hurt every season. Pay them starter money to keep them happy. I don’t care cause Dodgers owned by a billionaire hedge fund anyways. One of the 7-8 spots is reserved for Ohtani.

  16. Gonna say this for the delusional. Outman, Vargas, or anyone else in the farm will NOT replace Turner or Judge’s production next season.

Not saying that means we need to sign them, but these triple A stans need to sit down.
