[Kevin O’Connor] Russell Westbrook is a washed-up bricklayer who needs to be traded immediately for the Los Angeles Lakers to have any chance of saving their season.

Excerpts from article:

> Russell Westbrook is a washed-up bricklayer who needs to be traded immediately for the Los Angeles Lakers to have any chance of saving their season.

> The Blazers had their center, Jusuf Nurkic, defend Russ and sag into the paint to clog driving lanes, suffocating the Lakers’ offense. Westbrook missed two wide-open jumpers. One was a 3-pointer with no defender making an effort to contest his shot. The other was an egregious pull-up 2-pointer with 18 seconds left on the shot clock and 30.2 seconds left in the game that caused every Lakers fan on the planet to sound like Darth Vader screaming NOOOO! in Revenge of the Sith.

> The Blazers came back to steal Sunday’s game after Westbrook’s shot, with the Lakers guard finishing 4-for-15 from the field in the loss. His performance against the Clippers on Thursday was even worse; he shot 0-for-11 in 27 minutes.

> Westbrook has made only 38.3 percent of his midrange jumpers in his career, and the number has dipped further since he joined the Lakers. He’s gone from bad to worse, and now defenders treat him like he isn’t even on the court. Through three games this season, opponents are contesting jump shots by Westbrook only 41.2 percent of the time. According to Second Spectrum, that’s by far the lowest contest rate in NBA tracking data history, which dates back to 2013-14.

  1. Damn bro, Kevin woke up today with violence in his heart. I shit on WB’s whole career, but even I feel bad now.

  2. Kevin O’connor is an incompetent never was who jumps on lame hottakes in order to have any chance of getting attention.

  3. Only 3 games in and people are using phrases like “saving their season”

THAT’S how serious of a problem this is

  4. Teams are now handing the ball to Brick, pointing him to the basket, and asking him if he needs anything before taking the shot.

  5. This is a bad take. The Lakers as a team are bricklayers. Nobody is shooting over 29% from three except Matt Ryan. JTA is shooting 12%, for example. Walker is shooting 17%. PatBev is shooting 21%. They can trade Russ but if their shooting doesn’t return they will have the same problems.

So it’s not about Russ at all.

If their shooting returns while Russ is on the team, they will start winning with Russ on the team.

  6. >The other was an egregious pull-up 2-pointer with 18 seconds left on the shot clock and 30.2 seconds left in the game that caused every Lakers fan on the planet to sound like Darth Vader screaming NOOOO! in Revenge of the Sith.

    No mercy on that one..ouch

  7. This season is over even if Russ is traded. I’m ready to blow up the team. Trade Lebron and AD and try and draft Webayana.

  8. Yeah and the FO still dare to do this 20 games bullshit. Its not worked last year, its not worked on pre season, its not worked now. And despite all that WB still the dense people that refuse to acknowledge him being so washed. By 20 game we Will be 0-20 and that point shut down LeBron and AD and tanked for Wembanyama

  9. The quote tweet from Goldsberry is the real dagger here.

Russell Westbrook has made 3 of 17 jump shots this season.

Also, he is the only player that has attempted a jump shot with under 30 seconds to go and 15+ seconds left on the shot clock with their team up by 1 possession in the last 4 seasons.
