Fontecchio

Fontecchio looked really good last night and I think more playing time is in his future.

Things that I really liked:
Shooting- Just a sweet sweet stroke.
Offensive Rebounding- On almost every shot he bull rushed the hoop trying to get an offensive board.
Quickness- He was way quicker than I anticipated
Floor spacing- Moved really well in the offense. He is a runner, need to give him offball screens.
Active Hands: He didn’t get any steals but he caused some awkward passes and hit the ball a couple of times as players drove.

Need work:
Defense: It wasn’t bad, but he was a little slow on rotations.
Passing: Would like to see him pass a bit more, but I think with limited minutes he is going out to gun more than be a playmaker.
Ball Handling: Not the best ball handler
Contact Shots: Needs to get stronger around the basket and make shots while being hit.

Watching him play really sparked my curiosity on how he is going to develop. Saw a ton of potential and am excited to see if he can develop into something special.

  1. One thing; the way you correctly write “Simone Fontecchio” is “SIMONEFONTECCHIO”.

That’s because for the past year his performances have been so good that every time he made a play the Italian commentators went wild, so his name in all caps without space has become a meme. (in a positive way)
