The Jared Goff apology form reminded me so much of the posts on r/detroitpistons for the one in every 15 games that Killian plays where he scores more than 6 points
Goff is not as good as his defenders think and he is not as bad as his detractors say. The guy fits neatly just bellow the Dalton Line, with some flashes of brilliance and some times he looks like the Peterman.
This was so cringe

When swift and St. Brown are both back I’m sure we’ll win a couple games in a row and the Goff Truthers will be right back to it. I’ve always been indifferent on him, I still think we need to draft a QB this year. But for the next 11 games, Goff gives us the best chance to win.
I feel like Jared Goff is exactly what we thought he would be when he came to the lions. He’s not great but he’s not terrible either. He will keep the team in games if the rest of the team is good to great but he’s not going to drag the team to wins like an elite QB does.

Goff this year is literally the perfect showing of what Goff is. This is why drafting a QB wouldn’t be right or wrong. With weapons around him he will thrive, otherwise he stinks. He’s good enough where you don’t have to pick a QB you’re not completely sold on and he’s bad enough where you take a QB if you believe the QB you’re taking is that guy.
If he had anything left in the tank, the Rams wouldn’t have thrown draft picks at us to take him. He’s just a placeholder who occasionally overperforms.
No. He’s missing 3 of his top receivers, and Swift. Most quarterbacks who are missing that many weapons wouldn’t do well.

Reasons for criticism:
* Underthrew/overthrew passes * Threw interception(s) * Fumbled the ball * Overall just doesn’t seem like “the guy”
Goff is basically the definition of an average QB. Can do well when surrounded with a good amount of talent, but also won’t carry your team to wins. QBs like those aren’t worth the 30million price tag though, should probably be like half that or little more (around the 15-20 million range)
Lions fans’ takes have anyways been fire.
Not fire because they are good/spicy, but fire because the roof of the Lions organization has been on fire since 1963 and the fans keep getting burned

Goff isn’t elite, and he isn’t terrible. He’s in the middle, and fine for a never-ending rebuilding team like the Lions. Goff won’t loose them games by himself, but won’t win them by himself either. When the Lions feel the offense is ready, they’ll draft their QB of the future.
The lions have much bigger issues than Goff right now.
