  1. If I didn’t have a six week old sleeping in the next room I’d probably have punched something really fucking hard, I’m furious. Despite the outcome being the most predictable thing of all time and me seeing it coming ten miles away, I am seriously pissed off. Yankees + Rangers 0-7 the past week, once in a while it would be nice to see a team that’s supposed to win a lot of games actually do so.

  2. Good loss but at the same time disappointing. Sucks to lose to fucking Georgiev but we took the cup champs to OT and went toe to toe with them after the 1st when we started sluggish. Also outside of that literally game changing mistake – Igor looked like peak last season Igor. Fox looked great too.

Take the point and bury the fucking fish sticks tomorrow.

  3. Great game, we outplayed them for the last 40, the curse of the ex Rangers tho.

Kreider is clearly in his head, he’s gotta shake it off and play some hockey.

  4. Kreider’s been looking off. I don’t know what it is, but make KZK a ‘second’ line and the PTL line first string. And take Kreider off PP1.

EVERYONE needs to work on passes, making and receiving. Go all Mighty Ducks with the eggs on them if you have to.

Given how the game started, walking away with a point hurts a little less. But it still hurts.

My only solace is that a) Georgiev is proving what I thought about him, with consistent starts he’d be a decent starter, but he’s still no Igor, and b) he’s going to have to pay his team for a big dinner for getting him that win, and I hope it costs him five figures with lots of bottle service and they get so vashnigyered they lose their next five games.

  5. Why was Kreider out on the ice past the 2nd period let alone half the OT? Worst game I’ve seen him play in years… am I missing something? I’ve played hockey for 8 years and watched for 17 but maybe I’m missing something given that Kreider was, to me, abysmal in every zone yet Gallant just pretended like a pep talk in an OT timeout would make him wake up. Dude turned over the puck so many times, wiffed at least 35 passes by over 6 feet and still got more OT time than Panarin. Not to mention, Panarin played his heart out and still wasn’t able to carry hard enough. Not sure what’s going on with GG but he’s gotta figure his shit out. Maybe I’m just too angry but Kreider should’ve been benched for way more than 2 shifts, dude’s on Jupiter right now.

And why Kakko first for shootout? I assumed it was “ok, Mika’s hurt, so save Panarin for last and play Trocheck or Fox” then he sends out Zibanejad who just rips it into Georgi’s shoulder.

  6. People talking about moving Kreider off his powerplay spot are high or dumb. It would be like the Caps moving Ovi off his spot because he’s off to a slow start. Over the past 5 years no one has been better in front of the net than Kreider

  7. Lot of gloom in here so lemme give yall this

We came out and asserted ourselves against an improved Stanley cup champ team

Beat a bad call and didnt make excuses

Tied it late and picked up Igor

This game couldve been for either team, but we honestly looked better, game is ours in the playoff OT format

Dont get hung up on our record right now, were not gonna have the same regular season again, its always a grind no matter what or who you are.

  8. It’s so frustrating that despite this being an incredibly hard fought game and one I usually wouldn’t be upset by, I am still really angry.

    – Kreider played horribly all night including OT. He isn’t skating right now, and is careless with the puck. Many have already said it but if a kid played the way Kreider played he would be scratched tomorrow.

    – I’d like to see more from Mika. I probably would think he is doing worse if he wasn’t skating alongside the trainwreck mentioned in the bullet point above this.

    – Gallant’s coaching decisions were suspect. He has to do a better job of keeping the 4th liners away from the Mackinnon line when we have home ice. I also don’t like the decision to play Trouba over Miller in OT and also not giving Laf or Kakko who were having terrific games a chance in OT over Kreider who clearly wasn’t having a good game and really hasn’t been having a good season.

After the way, they played the first period I am pretty happy with the way we played the final 40 minutes. Just a frustrating game. It sucks seeing Georgiev do well at our expense because deep down I wanted to completely torch him this game. All that said, a marked improvement from where we were the last couple games.

  9. Honestly not too mad. First period was kinda shit but at least they look alive again. Both goalies played amazing tonight and it was an exciting game to watch. Wish we could’ve had a better outcome but we can hang with the reigning cup champs. It was a fun game, some of you just need intensive therapy. Also, happy for Geo.

  10. At this point I’d just like to see Vitali Kravtsov reach the point where he at least doesn’t get hurt every time he steps on the ice

  11. Meh whatever. Great game to watch. I’m happy for Georgiev he deserved that w. Thought Blais had an incredibly noticeable game. Someone tweeted “hes the Rick nash of Julian gauthiers” and that’s hilarious. Fox and panarin looked great. Surprise but I thought Hajek was solid tn. All the d played well after the first. Igor was able to bail us out and keep us in the game. Tro looked good.

Mika was good defensively he needs to get his offense going but he’s always been a hot and cold guy.

Kreider on the other hand played one of the worst games ive seen him play in years. Not even invisible he was noticeably bad and turning over and missing every pass he made. he needs to get a couple garbage goals in front and see the puck go in and he’ll be fine.

This was a good game by the rangers tonight. Tough loss but they showed up.

  12. This one honestly doesn’t sting. Very proud we rallied through all that bullshit to get a point against the reigning champs. Should feel some pride, yes there are mistakes but overall the display of heart was fantastic. We’ll be back.

  13. The way I chose to look at this one is the Rangers only played 40 minutes tonight and were a shootout away from beating Colorado. Obviously there’s stuff to clean up and I don’t know why Krieds got ice time in OT over Laf and Kakko, but it’s a major step in the right direction. Now go beat the Isles tomorrow and finish the road trip with a more wins than loses.

  14. My biggest takeaway from this game is Libor Hajek existed out there and I didn’t wanna tear my hair out. That’s growth

  15. Did Hajek not look terrible to anyone else? I actually saw him pushing the puck up on offense and he didn’t make any mistakes defensively. GG probably sheltered his minutes but he didn’t look bad.

  16. so fucking sick of having to hear about georgie’s “revenge” game. dude was middling-to-poor for most of his time here, and now i gotta hear a bunch of mouthbreathers go on and on about how new york somehow did him wrong

  17. The losses this season have been very frustrating. Playing well enough where we “should” be coming away with wins. That’s showbiz, I guess.

  18. Hope Shesty’s okay after that collision. Mika too.

Great game. Tough result. If this team plays more like this they’ll be fine though.

Still some things to clean up, especially turnovers at their own blue line, but that was a much better overall effort.

    Thoughts:
    – Kreider played the worst I’ve ever seen him play. Felt he skated better than previous games, but nothing he did was working. Missed deflections, lost puck battles, and his passing was atrocious.

    – On the flip side, got some production down the lineup. 1 goal from Goodrow who played his best game of the season and finally something from Vesey for the first time since preseason…great pass to setup Fox.

    – Fox’s shift on the tying goal got the team a point. Just a superstar play all around…first the defensive play to get the play going the other way and the read to get the tap in. He was great.

    – Glad Shesty’s misplay didn’t completely cost the team the game. He bounced back big time to give the team a chance after.

    – Georgie shutting down shootouts was the most predictable thing ever. Happy he is getting a chance elsewhere though.

    – Jones’ presence wasn’t missed…probably not a good sign for him to get back in the lineup. Thought Hajek was low key solid actually against talented opposition.

    – Haven’t seen much to like with Krav so far, but he did draw his defender to him on the Fox goal. Hopefully more of that to come. Biggest concern for me is his body doesn’t look NHL ready right now.

    – I like what Carpenter brings defensively, but that 4th line doesn’t generate enough pressure offensively to create energy and draw penalties. It needs more speed…they’re too slow as a line. There’s room for a Gauthier on this roster imo.

Overall, this loss hurt a lot less than the last couple where the team was completely outplayed. Tough schedule though…team’s going to have to fight through it.

  19. Losing in a shoot out to the cup champs. I’m not going to cry about it. Much better game than the last two, that’s for sure. But something is up with kreider.

  20. Frustrating about not getting the extra point. But the team looked better from the previous two games. Fox keeping the puck in the zone during the power play in ot show’s why he’s elite. Shesterkin cant make mistakes like he did on the short hand. Any way, the team looked better. Move on, take the point, and time to focus on the Fishsticks for tomorrow night

  21. I feel like I shouldn’t be so mad about this one, we really showed up from the 2nd period on. But goddamn, I really wish that these guys were able to switch on that extra gear in these games against former Rangers. First the wet fart of a game against David Quinn and the Sharks, and now a fairly uneven game against Avs in Georgiev’s return to the Garden. It’s just so frustrating having to these disheartening losses come so close to each other, especially with that abysmal effort against Columbus sandwiched between them lmao. I know it’s still early goings in the season, and I have no doubt that the team will start to really pick up their play as the season goes along, but fuck me has this just been a super frustrating week of Rangers hockey. 🤷‍♂️

  22. kreider has to retire or something because the man is struggling in pretty much every aspect on the ice. hurts to watch

  23. Wait a second — since Igor played tonight and we have back-to-back games, does that mean that Halak will start tomorrow?

  24. omg all the doom it’s what the 8th game this teams season won’t end till hopefully june people have to relax they played the best team in the league even and lost in a skills competition.they are starting to come around this game could have went either way long season

  25. We took the defending champs to a shootout in a game with 90 shots. Was it perfect? No. We made some mistakes. But it was a hell of a lot better than the last couple.

  26. The rulebook can eat a flat butt, to me, if a player is in the penalty box at the end of OT, they should be disqualified from the shootout. Even though mackinnon didn’t score, the avs should have had to adjust their shootout lineup like they would with their lines during the regulation time and overtime play.

  27. Alright I’ll admit I’m very annoyed by that game, so I’m just gonna let it out.

Of course Georgiev played lights out, and of course he won in a shootout, something he was horrific at in Red White and Blue. The whole game just felt annoying to watch, watching him make save after save on shots he routinely let in the past 4 seasons.

This was the most typical Rangers game of all time. Keep it close with the best team in the league after getting absolutely demolished in the first, only to lose to your former fucking backup that stunk on high ass for like 50% of his tenure as a Ranger. I didn’t (don’t) even hate Georgiev, but holy shit that was frustrating.

    **Some takeaways**

    * The D has to be better. Neither D was great tonight, but giving up that many shots in the slot, let alone shots in general is never a recipe for success. 6 games in and the D is still finding their footing
    * On the flip side, we outshot the Aves heavily the final 2 periods of play, and showed that we can hang with the top dawgs
    * PP needs to convert against a team struggling on the PK
    * Not gonna blame Igor for this one. It’s his blunder but he bailed us out so many times tonight that it’d be asinine to blame him for anything tonight
    * Thought Trouba had a strong game, contributing some big plays in big moments. That pass to Goodrow was nasty
    * The Second line as a whole played well tonight. Laf alone almost scored a couple times, but puck luck just wasnt on his side tonight
    * Kreider didn’t have a great game; missed the net and couldn’t elevate the puck in his office. He also had a couple really bad turnovers tonight, looked like he was trying too hard
    * Kravtsov hasn’t looked great; looked slow to the puck, weak along the boards, hesitant decision making with the puck on his stick — the effort was there, but the body wasn’t keeping up
    * Thought Blais and Vesey played solid games – Reaves looked less engaged than normal tonight

Sucks, but onwards and upwards. Gotta absolutely steam the Isles’ jeans tomorrow.
