I can’t blame him honestly. As a lifelong Oregon native, the Oregon coast sucks lol. It’s damn near always super cold, windy and rainy and even when it is a nice day out, the weather might be in the 70s if your lucky and the water is still ice cold. There’s also less to do in the towns around the coast compared to any of the places he could go to literally whenever he wants.

while the oregon coast is pretty in its own way, as someone who was born in an island next to a real beach, it sucks. its cold and foggy and its a 1 hr drive to then not be able to find parking.
It took years and multiple trips for me to appreciate it for what it is rather than be sad at what it wasn’t.

I rented cars for Enterprise in downtown Portland, and a massive amount of local-born-and-raised Portlanders had never even visited Multnomah Falls, which is a 20 minute drive east up the Columbia River Gorge.
I’d go as far as saying that most Portlanders probably haven’t visited much around their own state either.
Maybe the reason why Lillard hasn’t ever been to the coast is because nobody has ever invited him?

I’m an Oregonian. Born and raised in the valley. I fn hate the coast here. Florence is cool with toys but other than that they’re all lame. It’s cold, you get burnt, it’s cold AND you get burnt, the drive, the parking just everything. Hate me all you want but I’d pick the trees and hills everyday of the week over a Lincoln City trip by a mile.

Then take a trip to Cabo or whatever all sunny and warm, with everyone just smiling and happy. Welp, that’s why I don’t go to the Oregon coast. 🙂
The coast is a rainy, windy, dark place most of the year. You go to rent a house and look out at the waves with a fire going in the fireplace and sipping on a warm drink. Doesn’t sound like any of that appeals to Dame and it doesn’t appeal to a lot of people. It’s not like he outright said the coast sucks or anything. Let the guy have his preferences. This is a dumb story and they should feel bad for running it.
