Grant William Has Exceptional Start After Not Getting Contract Extension

  1. It’s obvious Grant Williams’ future with the Celtics, at least as of right now, is a bit uncertain. With the Jays’ contracts expiring in 2024, Boston is in a bind as to what to do with contracts until then. If another team offers Williams more money than the Celtics can match or want to match during the 2023 offseason, then Williams can easily walk away from the organization.

In my opinion, I think he’s a great player, and exceptional three point shooter. He is also capable of playing great defense (such as on Giannis). We’d be hard pressed to find someone of his value easily.

  2. I think he knows his worth. VP of the Players Association, so he knows all about how the cap will spike.

He also has a lot of faith in his work and abilities, he’s super confident. I don’t think he was accepting any offer this offseason, he believe he’s going to get paid.

I think Cam Johnson turned down a $18M per year extension, for reference. I think the mid level type of contract is going to spike again.
