  1. Seeing the post-game interactions like these changed my perspective on things several years ago.

When I was younger, I used to obsess about the team. I’d hate other players, hate other teams, losing would ruin my entire week. I’d be so upset that Player X got a ring, and be so sad that one of our players never got a ring. And I’d feel so bad for one of our players who had a bad game, because I knew that they’d be shit on by the media and fans all week, and I needed them to be proved wrong next time. Just so much stress and worry and blegh.

Then one game I went to, I’ll never forget it, it was 2001 against the Rams. Both our teams were really good, and I hated them because they were good, and we needed to win that game so bad in order to get a hold on the division, and most likely the conference.

Anyways, they routed us, it was bad, Garcia played like shit, and I was super bummed out. And then as I was leaving, I was just watching all the players milling about at midfield for 20-30 minutes. They were all chummy, chit-chatting it up, Bryant Young and Marshall Faulk were all smiles, hugging each other.

It was like an epiphany, like why the hell am I spending so much time and energy to stress about this team so much? It clearly doesn’t bother them nearly as much as it bothers me, and they’re the ones playing. Like obviously they wanna win, but at the end of the day, it’s a job. Ever since then, losing just doesn’t bother me too much.

All these teams and people we’re supposed to hate, when in reality they don’t care all that much. Kittle and Kelce are friends. Shanahan and McVay are friends. They’re just doing a job, playing a game, while fans are stressing about narratives and “wasting someone’s career” or whatever other nonsense.

Not sure where I’m going with this, but I know there’s tons of fans out there who stress about the team like I used to, so maybe just…try not to do that so much lol.

  2. I used to like the Chiefs when they had Smith. And I can’t hate the quality of Mahomes play, he’s sensational. But my God I hope some DL “accidentally” suplexes Mahomes and takes him out for the season.
