  1. i don’t want to rush to judge him but i am going to rush to judge him and accuse him of murder

  2. This makes it sound like he didn’t do anything and he’s just focusing on himself. That can’t be it, right!?

Spurs would have given him time away.

  3. I am very cognizant of mental health struggles but it’s hard to believe the spurs would release him if that’s the whole story.

  4. What a weird situation. People might wanna hold their premature assumptions before knowing more

  5. I mean, he wouldn’t get waived if he just needed time to focus on his mental health, I still think there’s more to this story.

  6. If it’s mental health related wouldn’t the team help him out with that instead of just cut him? Something isn’t adding up

  7. Mentioning trauma doesn’t sound as gambling to me, could it be that he cannot control his temper because of his past and that led to a fight or something like that?

  8. This reads like trying to get ahead of a sexual assault charge to me. “It happened to me which is why…”

  9. Even if hes dealing with mental stuff, i dont see why he gets waived. Usually he’d just be out for “personal reasons”

  10. “I’m dealing with some mental health trauma.”

This statement is starting to become akin to “I fucked up real bad, but listen…”

  11. Many other ways for the Spurs to handle something like a mental health issues. Teams are equipped with all sorts of personnel to help players deal with psychological/mental health concerns. Waiving a player of this calibre (high draft pick/ young/lots of potential) for solely mental health reasons simply doesn’t make sense- in fact players commonly leave the team to deal with personal matters without losing their status on the team.

Spurs wouldn’t do this without something serious happening.

  12. Yea, he did something terrible. No way Pop throws someone out like trash because of mental health issues.

Pop more than anyone else in the league would help someone in need.

He did something bad. Otherwise everyone wouldn’t be so damn vague.

  13. Never gonna knock on mental health struggles because it’s a bitch BUT I highly, highly doubt this is the whole story.

  14. You know what’s crazy is that there are no sources for woj or shams to report on. The spurs have kept this so tight. They got to release him before anyone even new a thing. That’s pretty cool in the modern day NBA.

  15. it’s reading like he was sexually abused as a kid and now did it to someone else or had CP. i hope i’m wrong

  16. No way the Spurs, out of all the organizations, would cut someone over mental health. I wonder what he did.

  17. Spurs also have pretty much wiped him from their website, which I highly doubt they would do if this was mental health related. Seems he’s trying to get ahead of the story a bit, to me at least. Obviously if it isn’t mental health related, I hope he gets the help he needs, but something seems up

  18. He played 4 days ago. So the Spurs have made a decision in less than 3 days. There is no way it was his decision. Also the way it was communicated, as well as pulling his jersey off the store, means only one thing.

He f’d up so bad that they had to make the quickest decision possible, and release him. His NBA career is gone for good, and we are just going to learn why in the next days. Also, the fact that they waited for 5pm Friday to announce it, shows there is so much more to it. Their refusal to even mention what he’s done is probably tied to an ongoing police investigation.

Man really threw away his life, and whatever it is, it’s gonna be awful and sad. Hope he can get some help whatever he’s done.

  19. NBA team is not waiving someone for mental health issues in 2022. This is not the whole story

  20. This is just a filler blanket statement.

The Spurs cut all ties with him and removed any mention of him, this is far more than a mental health break, even an indefinite mental health break. The Spurs made no mention of him or this being a mutual decision.

    Something definitely happened.

  21. Not buying it. DeMar and Lonnie were fully supported by Pop and the org for their mental health struggles. Rui got 3 mos off and Ben took a whole season off for that issue.

  22. I can’t remember anything crazy and secretive happening like this in my NBA viewing days . The nba has been loose lips, this is a massive shock and we got nothing. I’m shook
