Severity of turf toe injury shouldn’t be belittled on this sub

I’ve seen a lot of people in this sub saying a lot of shitty things about Michael Thomas injury despite the fact that is is not hard to find the severity of the injury even by just looking at this team’s history with it. [In 2011 Mark ingram battled the injury throughout the whole season.](https://www.cbssports.com/nfl/news/saints-og-ben-grubbs-rb-mark-ingram-tale-of-two-turf-toes/) He also reaggravated the injury after playing on it again too early causing him to miss six regular season games and the playoffs , which is why its important to not rush Thomas back. The article also discusses Ben Grubbs experience with it and how it took him 6 weeks to get back on the field.

Belittling the injury by comparing it to a gunshot wound is extremely disingenuous, it is a serious injury. Penning is currently still fighting to get back on the field and Deonte Hardy’s season is over because of it. I get it, it sucks when we don’t have our players in the field. But whether or not Thomas has just been getting unlucky or he really is injury prone doesn’t matter, no one should downplay an injury that they don’t understand. And if the fact that Michael Thomas isn’t producing for your favorite football team makes you angry enough to comment nasty things about the livelihood or the level of toughness of a person you have never met, then you should probably take a break.

  1. Turf toe is a serious injury, which is why Dennis Allen should have put him on IR. He has no clue how to judge when a player will get healthy again. See Jameis as well.

  2. I can’t wait till he comes back, I love watching him play. I would just love it if DA would go out and say it’s turf toe, or if they just put him in IR so we don’t have to speculate each week if he’s playing or not.

Praying for a full recovery 🙏

  3. The things is that we don’t know for sure that it’s even turf toe. That’s why comparing a toe injury to being shot is funny.

  4. Foot injuries are no joke! I’ve been recovering from foot and Achilles surgery for nearly a year and my toes still don’t fully plant unless I force them to. For the critics, I suggest stubbing your toe really badly then immediately try to jump or run. That would shut em up quickly.

  5. It’s not that his injury isn’t serious. It’s more that he’s just fragile af. He’s barely played the last 3 seasons.

  6. I think it’s just frustrating because we know how dominate he can be on the field and the only thing that can stop him are these injuries

  7. It can also be a Linsfranc injury or a million other possibilities. The last time MT played through an injury, it cost him another season and a vocal minority of the fanbase despises him for it still.

Guy is a warrior, he’ll be back when he can

  8. I don’t care what it is at this point. I have been hoping for too long for Michael Thomas to recover. I would rather start over with younger cheaper receivers who are rising stars than a guy who may have played his healthiest years already. Azing competitor with bad luck for injuries.

    lol

  10. I played volleyball in college – dislocated my knee, broken fingers, torn rotator cuff, you name it. The *one* injury that stopped me from playing was turf toe. I couldn’t roll forward on my foot AT ALL. It really made me realize how bad it is, because I would totally shit on our football players before for being out for weeks with it. Mine was mild too lol

  11. Can’t turf toe if you come back to early and reactivate it like really bad. I thought I’ve heard of some players careers ending early because of it. So def don’t need Thomas coming back early need him 100% if the Saints have any chance of winning this division
