  1. it shouldn’t be a penalty but I’ll take it, nice the be on the right side of the rulebook once in a while

  2. yeah they definitely would’ve won without the penalty… i mean what are the odds their kicker would miss a 33 yarder for the extra point??

  3. At least some of them are sensible. Unsportsmanlike conduct is ultimately up to the officials and this is stated in the same rule book. Also, there’s zero chance you could prove Pineiro wouldn’t have missed the normal PAT. The kick he missed in OT would’ve been the same distance. Plus he’s never ever been some super reliable kicker. A pro kicker should be able to nail kicks less than 50 yards.

Let’s not even mention the fact that there were 12-13 seconds left and again, there’s no way you can prove the Falcons wouldn’t have been able to get in FG range or even score a TD in another timeline. In fact, the officials easily could’ve called a DPI and given us the ball in range with about 3 seconds to go. But they swallowed the whistle and saved the Panthers.

  4. There were actually a couple of others that took off helmets that were on the field. Sorry after the clear dpi and the crap at Tampa, im not giving anyone any sorries for calls.

  5. Refs missed a PI call that would’ve put us in field goal range at the end of regulation so I guess we’re even.

  6. There are times when players know they are gonna get a penalty for celebrating and they do it anyway thinking it’s not gonna affect the outcome. I’m fairly certain this is one of those times. Usually if a player does it it’s after taking a lead, he might had a brain fart and forgot it was a tie (and might have thought it would be enforced on the kickoff). Regardless, players *should* know not to take your helmet off. You just don’t do it. Not sure how Panthers fans are upset about it. Besides, it’s not like they got screwed on a bogus roughing the passer call. That’s a call to actually get upset about.

  7. from Section 3, Article 1 of the NFL rulebook, which addresses unsportsmanlike conduct: “Removal of his helmet by a player in the field of play or the end zone during a celebration or demonstration, or during a confrontation with a game official or any other player.”

  8. It literally wouldn’t have mattered lol, even 5 yards closer he shanks it or doinks it

  9. Yeah, but he re-entered the field of play immediately afterwards. We can split hairs, ok, but if he’s removing his helmet, excessively celebrating, and stumbles back on the field of play, well, it’s on you, boss.

  10. He was clearly in the end zone with his helmet off. That and another player was as well. Idk what game this fan was watching

  11. Yeah…Keanu Neal was given the same penalty when he took off his helmet on the field…writhing in pain…when he torn his achilles.

  12. The thing that is being overlooked is that not only did he miss the extra point due to the penalty but he also missed the much closer field goal attempt in OT

  13. Oh yeah, let’s review the tape and see if he got both feet down out of bounds before the helmet came off. SMFH Panther fans.

  14. I imagine the rule is a safety thing. Someone is gonna get their skull cracked – either by accident or someone being an ass. So, yeah. Get a penalty for taking your helmet off. Better than someone with a helmet headbutting you.
