  1. Would like to see what he looks like with a competent WR or two before giving him a ‘long’ term deal.

  2. Have a feeling Joe Schoen will draw the line about how
much they are willing to pay Jones. If he wants more then what they think they will let him walk

  3. I think some kind of extension is warranted, barring some terrible second half collapse, DJ has shown himself to be a leader for this team and even if he’s not a great qb, he’s shown that he can still irk out a win with piss poor tools. I think a perfect future would be a reasonable 2-4 year extension for DJ, keeping the reigns of the giants for now and holding onto it and letting whatever QB we get next ease into the nfl rather then just being thrown out there like DJ was. Let DJ teach the guy, take some of that pressure off.

  4. I don’t know about long term but I think he should get a couple years to improve with the team. Maybe a 2-4 year deal and front load it the first 2. Get some wideouts and develop the IOL. After 2 years if he’s they guy extend him and if he’s not he can be cut with a minimal cap hit.

  5. The jones extension is pretty straightforward imo.

There’s no chance he makes more money by leaving, the best he’d get is huge backup money ($15-20 mill at most for a desperate team transitioning to a rookie like the colts or Texans). I’d give him a 3-4 year deal averaging $20-25 million a year. Again, no chance he makes that somewhere else. With better OL and especially receiver play, he’ll be sure to play even better than he has this year, which has easily been a top half QB.

Ofc I’d draft someone but barring total collapse, we won’t be drafting top 10 to get Stroud/Young/Levis. The rest of the QB’s are bad.

Still, trusting in this regime to make the right move. I could easily be wrong

  6. For the contract give 25 million next year, 30 million in 2024, and 35 million for 2025. 2023 is not as bad as this year in terms of cap, but we’ll still be limited until 2024

  7. Absolutely agree with Cruz and you might want to do it before he gets a viable deep threat receiver at the trade deadline, which looks like is going to happen. Jones gets that, it’s going to look like Eli to Plax on play action passes all day. I can’t believe I’m typing this, but this team is one receiver away from being a true nfc champion contender. If they don’t get that wr, you’re going to see a lot of teams crowding the line like Seattle did going forward and that will be that. Huge tradeline for us and I’m just happy we’re in a spot where we’re potentially buying instead of selling.

  8. Ehhh i could understand 2-3yrs past that, no. I just think he is to limited for a commitment beyond that.

  9. Given our record I think it’s unlikely we’ll have our pick at QB in the draft, but it’d be hard to argue that Jones has earned a long-term extension- even this season, he’s currently on pace for 13 TD passes and less than 3000 passing yards in 17 games and it’s obvious our offense runs through Saquon. I think it’s fair to offer Jones a reasonably price 2 year contract in the $15-20M range and explore our options at QB in the coming years, but I wonder if Jones would rather stay here and prove himself to get a bigger bag in a few years or test the market right away and see if someone will overpay him. I’m skeptical that anyone would pay him over $20M/year, but you never know.

  10. what’s the rush to sign him right now? what if he gets hurt at the end of the year, and can’t play next year.

let the season play out and assess after that.

  11. If they don’t get him a WR tomorrow I think it’s a major red flag to with Jones future here. They either like what they see or aren’t going to give him a fighting chance
