  1. This could be said about every single rookie that struggles year 1.

Kenny’s got some time to show if he’s a legit NFL QB, let alone a difference maker. If he isn’t the guy, the team should absolutely look at next year’s QB class.

  2. I factually wanted the Steelers to draft Jalen Hurts. Of course the arm chair Steeler coaches, and lounge chair experts argued that Jalen will never be a QB.

Guess he and I both proved those “experts” wrong. Hurts has been a winner at EVERY level, and now in the NFL.

  3. QBs aren’t going to look good in our offense until we get a good o.c. Hurts has Sirriani and Shane Steichen. Steelers will probably end up promoting Mike Sullivan after letting Canada go which is not going to be ideal for Pickett’s development.

  4. The Kenny is a bust is such a bad take. If his play is the same late next season with no improvements then I can understand the pitchforks. Until then I’m excited every week to see Kenny get his opportunity to ball out.

With our upcoming draft get some studs at OL for the run game and Kenny or the next QB, no matter what we need to build the line up to improve.

  5. Jalen hurts was great every year he played in college, Kenny was only good in a super weak conference while being a super senior. He’s literally the worst.

  6. Where would the Cardinals be if they had stuck with Josh Rosen instead of drafting Kyler? We haven’t seen enough of Kenny to know for sure what the right move is yet but there are more Rosens out there than there are Hurts

  7. Jesus Christ. The coping for Pickett and the expectation that he’ll be great is so puzzling.

The eagles are a totally different franchise than the Steelers are right now in terms of how they’re coached, talent, and the FO.

There’s NO guarantee that Pickett will be as good as hurts – or even if hurts will be this good outside of this year

  8. I find it odd that a lot of people on this sub wanted Kenny to sit out an entire year. Do people realize that Kenny Pickett is **older** than Jalen Hurts? Pickett played 5 years in college. Why on earth should he wait any longer to start. He [clearly is pro-ready](https://syndication.bleacherreport.com/amp/10025996-kenny-pickett-described-as-probably-most-pro-ready-qb-in-2022-nfl-draft-by-afc-exec.amp.html), so idk why people want him to sit on the bench for an entire year with this coaching and behind Mitch

  9. I can think of a ton of QBs that were on crappy teams and lost a lot of games. Kenny has the skill and intangibles. In a year or two, with the right coaching and game plan, he will light up the field.

  10. Real fans know we aren’t making it far this year. Why not try out the rookies and see what they got? Get something out if nothing and hopefully it pays off next year.

  11. That’s what I’ve been saying. Elite NFL QB’s are VERY rarely dominating as if they were in their prime the moment they step on the field. We have to give Kenny the time to develop while we build the team back up. It’s a process and that’s alright.

  12. In 2021, Hurts air yards per attempt was 7.19
In 2022 so far, Kenny’s air yards per attempt is 3.9

In 2021, Hurts yards per completion was 11.9.
In 2022 so far, Kenny’s yards per completion is 8.6

    In 2021, Hurts TD% was 3.9
    In 2022 so far, Kenny’s TD% is 1.2

    In 2021, Hurts INT% was 2.1.
    In 2022 so far, Kenny’s INT% is 4.8

Stat by stat, Kenny is doing much worse than Hurts did.

Kenny’s stats so far look a hell of a lot closer to Ryan Leaf than to Jalen Hurts.

I’m not saying that means we should give up on Kenny. I personally think the OC and play calling bear a large part of the blame here. But statistically, Kenny is simply not playing well, and he’s playing a lot worse than Hurts did last year.

  13. Is Kenny Pickett likely to be a bad NFL quarterback? No. Is he likely to be a super bowl caliber quarterback? Also no. He will get better sure but he shows no signs of being the Marino or Brady type QB who can drag a team to the super bowl virtually on their own. He will need a lot of help in future years for the team to have success. He’s not Ben he seems to be Neil O’Donnell

  14. Even Aaron Rodgers won like 6 games in his first year starting, and that’s after a whole lot of time in the oven.

I also really hate the arguments of Rosen/Murray in Arizona. The only reason Arizona moved off of Rosen so quickly was because Arizona brought in a coach who had known Kyler since he was a kid and had a plan for him and with the 1st pick were guaranteed to be able to follow through with the plan. Even if we got the 1st pick, which I can’t imagine is even a remote possibility, there’s no QB that fits conveniently in to that role. If anything, Kenny was that guy for us already.

  15. I like Kenny. I am not sour on him. I am sour on Tomlin and Canada and have been for years. But I know criticism of Tomlin on hear is a downvotable offense.

  16. The kid’s a rookie. It’ll be another couple of years before we have a good idea what his limits are.

  17. …or if we drafted Jalen Hurts instead of Claypool like Minkah all the other Alabama players begged them to.

  18. This 💯. People forget that Terry Bradshaw (4x Super Bowl champ, 2x super bowl MVP, HOF member, and all decade 70s team) threw more picks than touchdowns his first TWO seasons.

Not saying Pickett would ever be THAT good, but it goes to show how ridiculous only giving a guy 3 games before saying he’s a bust is.

  19. Could you imagine where Buffalo world be right now if they axed Allen after his first year?

  20. Anxious to see Philly play a great defense, Vikings is about as hard of a defense hurts has had to go up against

  21. Not saying the Steelers should give up on Pickett by any means, but Mason Rudolph has performed considerably better as the Steeler’s QB in twice as many games before he was demoted to 3rd on the depth chart. It’s been that bad. Pickett needs to show improvement in just about every facet of the position over the remaining schedule.

  22. Comparing Jalen and Kenny is like comparing apples to oranges.. very different skill set and athletic abilities.. Hurts doesn’t need gloves to hold on to the football.. lol

On a serious note, if you remember Ben in his rookie year he was winning football games from the first week.. Yes, the defense and overall team was strong but we have a ton of talent now as well. Sometimes players have a hard time transitioning to the big leagues.. Kenny is too careless with the football and barley makes clutch plays on 3rd down and in the redzone.
