Wasn’t the issue with the Bear trade that the Leafs needed to ship out a contract and not just a draft pick and Carolina didn’t want bodies back?
Sounds like this type of analysis is the luxury a team like the Leafs, with MLSE type ownership, can afford. They aren’t going to lose money in this market, that’s for sure.
There needs to be consequences for the core of the team for underachieving in the playoffs, but both Keefe and management are afraid of these players. They scapegoated Kadri and he went on to win a cup. When teams underperform to the degree that this team has there needs to be a big change.
