  1. You’re the pro dog there’s no way you believe this is a playoff/Super Bowl contending roster let alone defense. We’re playing for a T10 pick obviously. How do you not know that?💀

  2. Full quite from article
    > “Your thoughts start to go through your head like, ‘What are we playing for?'” safety Eddie Jackson said Wednesday. “Is their vision (in the front office) still the same as the players? We’re trying to make it to a Super Bowl, get to the playoffs, things like that. Like I said, I’m not upstairs. I get it. I understand it. But it just hits different.”

  3. That’s always the tough distinction between players and an front office in the middle of rebuild. Fans as well.

Players don’t think like fans or front office. Fans of bad teams want the best draft picks, as does the front office. Hell, I’ve seen fan bases get pissed when a bad team wins meaningless games. But players don’t see it that way. They want to win, no matter what. So I can understand Eddie’s frustrations.

  4. I guess players really are in their own bubble. Feels like everyone knew this was a tear down and rebuild this season. The fans, media, front office. You’d figure the players would have been more prepared

  5. Love you Ed but if you think down year Roquan and 1 sack Bob are getting us a SB with no receivers or o line or d line, you’re dumber than I thought.

  6. We’re trying to win a Superbowl. That’s what we are playing for. This team was not a Superbowl contender so it needs to be torn apart and rebuilt. Duh.

  7. Your next pal

Lol downvotes for a guy all of you wanted gone the last two years. Now has a couple ints and he is dion sanders again.

  8. Eddie turns 29 next month he has to figure he’s only has a few more “prime” years left so I don’t blame him for being upset at the trades.

That said, there are examples of “worst-to-first” teams in the NFL seemingly every year and so there’s no reason this has to be a long rebuild. I expect the team to be competing for a playoff spot as soon as next year.

  9. If every game was the Bears on a good day they should probably be 5-3 right now.

It’s not that crazy for someone like Eddy to think ‘we are close, we just have to get more comfortable and play a bit better and we have a real shot at playoffs’ and then to have the front office trade away good players right after would make him be like ‘welp, nevermind I guess’

Like he said, he gets it, doesn’t mean it doesn’t suck though.

  10. I feel bad for Eddie. Dude has watched all his friends and coaches leave and this defense just get worse every year :/

  11. I’m a little shocked by the number of talking heads within Chicago acting like Roquan and Quinn were having good years for the bears. I get roquan is leading the league in tackles but I wanted to see more than a guy who tackles people 5 yds down the field.

I was even wondering if I was a GM would I even tag Roquan. I couldn’t think of enough reasons to justify the tag.

  12. This is taken so out of context. The question was “how did you feel when you first heard about the trades?”. After that he said Eberflus and Poles sat them down and discussed the trades and their direction and it made sense.

  13. Even if we’re in a rebuilding/tank period, every player wants to win (at least I hope) . At the end of the day every single one of them has a finite life in the league; they want to maximize as much as they can earn while also winning as much as they can (i.e. playoffs, SB). As one of the veteran defensive players on the team, I definitely see his perspective. He wants to win and losing two great defensive players hampers that, in addition to lowering the defensive output and thereby his own output to some extent.

  14. The headline lacks a lot of context. I don’t see anything controversial about what he’s saying. He’s human, and I would expect every player on that team to have questions. It’s also one thing to understand what the front office is doing and another thing to have to live with it. It’s easier for us, as fans, to say ‘oh yeah, this is for the best long term’. We’re not working there and having to pick up the pieces. I hope some of the young guys are able to step up on defense and make it, at least, a competitive group.

  15. I mean, I get it, but also feel like Eddie has to get that this team 1) was never going to be a playoff team this year and 2) might be a playoff team next year. This was always a building year, I’m sure he knows that on some level.

  16. There’s definitely a difference between intellectually understanding why these trades are being made and accepting that you’re basically wasting a year of your career on a team with no aspirations this year so I definitely get what he’s saying here.

  17. Motivation, and momentum is big, and carries over season to season.

Strong play this year plus a ton of money next year makes the team feel like they can take the next leap.

Weak play this year plus slightly more money next year makes you feel like you’re going to be the next Jaguars.

  18. This is clickbait and not giving full context of the interview, a bunch of players were asked what their first reactions were when they heard the trade. This is a pretty normal reaction to have, after this he talked about how he sat down with Flus and Poles and they explained why they made the moves which he understood. He said he plans to bust his ass the rest of the season

  19. Love Eddie and we need some guys to hold up a respectable D. But for the right value, trade Eddie too. All about rebuilding this year.

  20. I don’t know Eddie, what are you playing for? You and the rest of the defense didn’t even show up last week.
