  1. Not an ice cube’s chance in Heck. I’d love it but no way it’s happening. Bill DeWallet will not pay for that, no matter how many times we pack Busch.

  2. I’d doubt it, but coming from Greg…anywho, it’ll give me something to be disappointed by!

  3. Its correct that it’s the most logical move. You bat Turner 2nd ahead of Goldy and Arenado you have an incredibly lethal lineup.

I’m just not convinced it will happen

  4. Get him here! I’d pay $3.50 of his salary myself…that should be enough to put the offer over the top!

  5. Please provide flair or some other way to know it’s a prediction without clicking all the way through.

  6. Playing devils advocate, this guy did call Arenado moving to St Louis before it really became a big thing. Maybe he has feelers on the ground.

  7. I’d love this, I just don’t see the Dodgers letting him go, or the Cards digging that deep into their wallets for what it will probably take to lure him away from LA. But him and a trade for Sean Murphy makes this the best INF in baseball and a way more dangerous lineup. Probably unrealistic, but would be cool!

  8. We all know the infield/SS/2B situation for next year will be the same as this year, right?

I fully expect Edman/Gorman/Donovan to be the middle infield, and you should too.

  9. How much of Trea’s best baseball is still ahead of him? Why get him when Winn could be ready by 2024?

I want a starter, a shortstop to start a year or two for us, a left handed slugger, and bullpen arms.

  10. Correa is a couple years younger, he’s who I would go with if they were gonna get a 300+ million type of guy.

  11. There’s almost no logical way this makes sense unless you’re trading your should be two time GG in Tommy Edman for an ace.

  12. This is fucking stupid. Shortstop is not the spot the Cards need to improve. The priorities are catcher and rotation. Plus there’s no reason to block a talent like Winn for seven years when he might be MLB ready as early as now.

    2022 fWAR: Turner 6.3, Edman 5.6

Plus if they’re gonna do that shit might as well go for Swanson instead, he’s a full year younger.

  13. Just a homer pundit saying stuff to create headlines. Shortstop is one of the few positions that aren’t necessary to upgrade on, and this front office never adds significant players to a position that already has a good player there. Heck, they don’t add players to positions that have a dead body standing out there (Dejong, Carpenter).

It’s one of things that make a ton of sense on paper (just move Edman to second and have MLB’s best infield), but it isn’t how Mozeliak and DeWitt operate.

  14. Until the Cardinals go out and sign a big FA blind like this I just don’t see it happening. When was the last time they pursued and actually signed a big time free agent that wasn’t on the team the previous season? ~~Berkman? Beltrán? Those were just relatively minor 2 year deals as well.~~ Totally forgot about Dexter Fowler which might be the largest. They never make a major FA acquisition, it just isn’t in the DNA of the organization and to do so would be a tectonic shift for them. The Cardinals strategy is to value trade for stars then sign them to extensions (or in Arenado’s case convince him not to opt out). Everywhere else they build internally.

  15. There is a better chance that Masyn Winn starts at SS then DeWitt paying Turner what he wants.

  16. I’m not falling for these again. You may have got me 13 times. But I’m now refusing to be had a 14th

  17. I’ve been thinking about this, what would his source be? Listening to him, he clearly was told something from someone he trusts.

Cardinals side? Doubt they leak and are as tight lipped as anyone. To feel confident to guarantee it? Considering the history of UFA contracts the Cardinals have given out, as high as Winn as they seem/as good as he could be, and with the “we dont want to block literally anyone” narrative they love to use…this doesnt make any sense.

Turner side? Unless its an agent trying to get the bidding up, why would Turner himself lock himself in now considering the bidding he’ll get vs the Cardinals contract history and Winn…this doesnt make much sense

Only thing I can think of is he knows someone in the Arenado camp, and Mo told Arenado they are going to go hard after Turner. Arenado is still new here and doesnt know how things really work here and he won’t come close to being here.

Maybe he just knows that Turner told someone he would really like to go to STL or something.

  18. As far as the position/Winn discussion….If you sign turner I think you immediately move Winn to CF. Just like Gorman when they signed NA, and Jordan Walker when they traded Bader. Think about Winn’s arm in the OF. He’s probably got the speed/range to play as they are similar in the speed/range factor. Which brings up the other option, Turner *could* play CF too. He played almost 50 games there towards the beginning of his career. I highly doubt that would happen though. More likely he’d move over to 2B if he moved.

Regardless, Winn most likely isn’t going to be here until 2024, maybe not even opening day and he’ll be a rookie/prospect. Who knows if/what he’ll pan out to even be.
