Right! Carr said it himself – ‘I try to do exactly what he wants me to do.’ It is so strange. You have a QB who knows how to do pre-snap reads, and you go and throw that out the window. That was one of Carr’s greatest strengths.
Tom Brady made McD think he was a genius.
He didn’t say read. He said first or second play. He mentioned that usually 2 or more plays are called and that, he’d prefer that they stick to those when possible but as everyone got more comfortable with the system, then more at-the-line changes would be possible. However, the goal is still to stick to the first or second play called by getting it right before the huddle breaks.
The tweet here is just plain old bullshit.
Bro Moreau was literally caught on camera saying “I can’t hear you” during the saints game. Carr audibles all the time.
It’s the same cycle, the new HC/scheme demands adherence to THEIR system, and Carr/offense sputter with some great games and some horrific but overall come up short in the W/L column. Fans explode calling for new everything, claiming QB is washed and the problem. The next year Carr gets more freedom and the offense starts to look great, but no growth anywhere else so the record doesn’t change much. The coach is fired the following year and the process starts over again.
I’m not saying McDaniels is “it” but for the love of God can we just build consistency before we hit “reset” over and over again?

I wanted to believe in this guy, but his 12-17 (going like 1-8 at one point) record as HC in DEN should have told us everything we’re coming to find out the hard way…
i think the offense is doing fine. its a tough scheme. im more-so down for an identity rather than play backyard football (even if the latter is more fun to watch)
Carr needs to read but watch and take what he can get. Can’t rely on Adam’s and Waller/Renfrow to carry us every week. That’s readable. Use the other recievers and TE to catch them off-guard…a plan they can’t read and prepare for. Utilize all offense and do what’s best. If he’s limiting DC’s decision on play calls then he’s hurting us. DC is on field in real time watching the plays and how the defense unfolds and if DC has no choice to play past the first 2 reads either getting his pick or getting lectured by JM that’s ridiculous and causing him to get sacked and lose instead of win 1st downs. I can’t imagine a new coach coming in being that controlling I would hate to have to make my own best decision play by play over having to take a sack or incompletion knowing I would catch shit from coach when I got the 1st by not going 1st or 2nd read

They want WRs to end up in a specific area and they have some freedom on how to get there as long as WRs are not running into each other and as long as the QB knows where they’re going to be. He also said for Derek Carr that he has a lot of freedom to change things at the line of scrimmage. Sometimes they call 2 plays and he can choose which one he wants to run. He even has the freedom to choose a different play than the 2 that were called.
Raider Nation already has a lot of grief from the way our team has played this year. No point in riling up the crowd with misinformamtion and bullshit.
