  1. I mean we never know if we would have chosen him or if he or any other player would develop at the same rate/be given the same opportunity, but regardless this trade was a fuckin disaster.

  2. I’m curious to know where Benning had him ranked on their draft board. Prior to the big trade with Arizona, he mentioned they had 9-10 guys they liked.

Was Guenther not among them, which led to him thinking the 9th pick was more dispensable?

  3. B-b-b-but I thought it took ten years for a draft pick to figure which end of the stick to hold on to????

  4. I was so happy for him watching that clip and how great that the Coyotes had his parents give him the good news. But I have to admit this hurts so much as a Canucks fan.

  5. Now we need to drop OEL and Garland for cap space and could sorely use a prospect like that.

  6. Like I have no problem with that trade IN THEORY.

SHOULD HAVE NEVER HAD TO SWEETEN IT WITH A FIRST ROUNDER THO!

If that was what it was going to take then walk away

  7. This trade killed my hope that this group will even come close to winning a cup. All in on being mediocre for the next 5ish years, then needing to do a full rebuild 🙈

  8. Benning is in the unholy trio for biggest clowns the Org has ever had. Messier-Keenan-Benning.

  9. Well nobody ever has to worry about Benning ever working again that guy truly cemented his self as one of the worst GMs in nhl history. Truly mind boggling things

  10. would love a follow-up interview with Jim Benning. Would love to see how he would rate himself.

    1. Cap management: 0 out of 5
    2. Drafting: 3 out of 5 (some good hits and big misses)
    3. Asset management: 0 out of 5 (always selling low)
    4. Pro scouting: 1 out of 5
    5. Success on the ice: 0 out of 5
    6. Managing up with the owner: 5 out of 5
    7. Strategy and planning: 1 out of 5 (if your plan is to go all in every year and miss playoffs)
    8. Signings value for money: 1 out of 5 (could have been slightly worse so giving him the benefit of the doubt with a 1)

    overall grade 27.5% F minus

Ranking: Worst GM in NHL history

  11. In my opinion this trade will go down as one of the worst in Canucks history. Just nothing good about it at all.

  12. this team doesn’t deserve to win cups. They aren’t important to our owner. All aquaman cares about is preserving the extremely remote possibility of 2 games of playoff revenue each year.
