  1. No income tax . Otherwise why? Does he live there? Or is this just the more involved the more money he probably gets ?

  2. It’s a team that is almost there but are the Rangers going to have a window the length of his contract? deGrom is going to turn 35 mid-season so I don’t see it as a 6 year deal but maybe a 3 or 4.

  3. Rangers: “Hi Jake, would you perhaps be interested in signing with us if we offered you the best contract?”

deGrom: “Yes, I would be interested”

  4. Wouldn’t hate seeing him go to the AL and not the Yankees. Love deGrom, hope he stays a Met, but $45m/year deployed elsewhere might be a good thing.

  5. Honestly can’t wait until this saga is over. I’m tired of reporters parroting that Jake secretly hates the Mets. He might leave but it won’t be because he hates the Mets

  6. That would be terrible for my Ms but very exciting to have more national names within the division. I’m for it oddly.

  7. I’d be really torn as a GM – on one hand, probably the best pitcher in the world, on the other, his recent injury issues scare the hell out of me

  8. Man, that would be a hype signing, but I’m just not in love with the idea of throwing a shit ton of money at an older pitcher with a lot of injury issues. I don’t want to be stuck paying a dude 20-30M a year to have him sit on the IL for a few years. Id much rather chase a long term deal with Rodon and have DeGrom ride off into the sunset with the Mets, as crazy as that seems .

We’ll see. I mean we certainly need the pitching, so I wouldn’t be necessarily mad. It just means our window to win gets even tighter before it even opens.

  9. I just dont see where he fits in. Rangers already have a backlog of RHD, dealt Nils Lundkvist just before the season started because they had no room, and now they want to sign an MLB pitcher? Hard pass

  10. Can we not make the AL West better please? I don’t want a dogfight for 88 wins while the Astros laugh to 105 again

  11. Here’s whats going to happen:

deGrom resigns with the Mets, has some good years, a few injuries, averages 6 k’s per game with a 2.50 era, rides off into the sunset as probably missing the HoF

deGrom signs with any other team, goes 32-0 every season, Cy Young every season, 300 strikeouts a year, era less than 1, no injuries, cements himself as a HoF pitcher and wears the cap for whatever team it is.

  12. As someone from New England whose wifes family lives in Texas, fuck the summer in Texas. It’s. awful

  13. Bye Felicia. I’d rather have a pitcher that’s actually on the field AND performs in the clutch.
