  1. Boy, really glad the NHL continues to shoot itself in the foot with these 'awesome' replay reviews.

Even better that the NHL then turns around and posts it on their YouTube channel to show how great they are at being dumb.

  2. Should be a rule if it looks cool just count it.

Rule also should apply for soccer, football catches that are out of bounds, or NBA shots after the whistle/buzzer.

  3. This move is such horseshit, has no place in this league. Very difficult to defend. Another note, this looks exactly like that play last year in the playoffs, avs vs oilers. He moves his stick up and loses possession let's it go over the blue line then grabs the puck again, not offside? These rules are different every game every year

  4. Two things: First, call it the Michigan. And secondly, someone needs to deck that guy immediately.
You pull those shenanigans in hockey you are asking to get decked. Don’t let a guy show boat.
I’m trying to protect the player.

  5. @nhl — can you guys please explain to me why you call back goals on offsides calls that should be judgement calls?? why do we even have the line refs out there then??? you want more goals….. but you also want to take away goals that happen a minute after a zone entry?? im lost.

  6. Why are people so mad about reviewing offsides? If the initial entry is offsides everything after that would’ve never happened had the call been made. Can’t wait to see how upset people will be about the ability for a review of a high sticking by friendly fire

  7. These offside reviews should be relevant only like 10s prior to the goal, otherwise what is the meaning… i mean its not good for the sport at least not fun seeing goal called back after 30s of entering the zone, when all the players are already in there. Just pathetic.

  8. The NHL needs to put a leash on the offsides challenge. Keep in mind the linesmen catch pretty much 100% of the obvious offsides and 98% of the ones that are tight. A 20 second time limit between breaking in the zone and scoring a goal is MORE than enough to say that a slight offsides didn't give unfair advantage to a goal.

The offsides challenge is supposed to make the game more fair, not be a get-out-of-jail free card to a team hemmed in their zone. Situations like this are embarrassing.

  9. People only cry because their own favourite team didn't win or some fancy highlight goal didn't count. What if this happened in playoffs and other team wins with offside goal? Or what if Wild makes it to playoffs by 2 points they got now? It was offside, stop crying. Right call was made, sometimes it hurts sometimes it makes you happy.😂 What matters is right result in the end.

  10. Going back to review zone entry any number of minutes before a goal is scored is just ridiculous and frustrating to everybody. All the other challenge options are specific to the moment of scoring but the offside one is not and just too broad. It should be limited to clear advantages in breakaway situations gained from a missed offside call. The rest of them should be up to the linesmen only. It is hard enough to score on today's goaltenders as it is without having to worry about whether your boys entered the zone correctly two minutes ago.

  11. i cant stand these offside challenges. if the ref doesnt catch a millimetre offside too bad. they should have to challenge it instantly, if its so close you need a video engineer with a microscope than it isnt affecting the game.

its also dumb if everyone knows its offside but a team could waste a whole pp or relentless offensive pressure that a goal wont even count on.

  12. I like the offside rule but it needs to be expanded upon. The infraction should need to influence the play where the scoring team was given a clear advantage due to the offside.

Going back and looking at a zone entry that occurred minutes before the goal was scored and had 0 implications on the goal just doesn’t make sense and takes away great plays like this one.

  13. So they don’t go back to review and call actual penalties they missed after a whistle, but a team can basically erase a goal? This happens way too often. It’s getting out of hand. The NHL needs better referees, badly.

  14. I'm going to put on my old man hat and say I'm tired of these goals. They aren't really in the spirit of hockey. Maybe Trevor should join the circus.

  15. I don't think a lot of people care about this not a goal becasue 1)there aren't a lot of true duck fans and 2)zegras's career just started. he can do this later on. wasn't this his second time doing this lacross goal? I remember he did similar last year or was that another duck player?

  16. iF A PLAYER CAN WAVE HIS STICK AROUND AT 4' IN THE AIR WITH A PUCK STUCK TO IT, THEN THE ONLY WAY TO DEFEND IT IS TO WAVE (CHOP) A STICK BACK AT IT. NO SPEARING OR HIGHSTICK PEN SHOULD BE CALLED, EVER!!!!
