  1. I mean, this was pretty obvious given the current injuries. Siakam is out, Precious is out, and the rest of the bench has been wildly inconsistent. Koloko has had some foul trouble in games but he’s been overall great defensively.

  2. I feel like Nick is happy for Christian to figure things out on the court rather than reduce his minutes and bring him off the bench. His defensive presence is far too valuable and subbing Thad in when he’s in foul trouble seems to be his plan. The only way you learn to stop making silly fouls is to play basketball.

I saw an interview a while ago with Nick saying that they’ve told Christian to go after every block which is why he’s leading this years rookies in that department. However you run the risk of racking up fouls by jumping on every play. He only played 14 mins last night because of this but it meant that Thad could play 27 mins and finish with a +/- of +21.

Christian was +2 despite having 5 fouls, 5pts, 1blk and 1reb… To me this suggests that his presence on the court is valuable despite having a bad game.

  3. Does starting Koloko make our team better over 60 min? I would argue yes, but then who moves to the bench/transition role? Gary? Scottie? Surely its not Fred Og Pascal or Siakam

  4. Where are all the people that said Koloko would be in G League for most of his first year ?! Haha that aged like milk

  5. This is exactly what koloko needs and he has proven he deserves it my god how effective he is at rim protection and boards!

  6. The games Siakam started in his rookie year were huge for his development. I think just getting the reps as a rookie will be huge for his progression. Nurse has always been really thoughtful in this regard, he is far sighted

  7. Koloko as a starter may have growing pains, but also has the highest ceiling for the team.

  8. Start of the season Nurse was sure that Koloko would be spending most of his time with the 905. It’s a testament to how good defensively he’s been that Nurse has already changed him mind.

  9. Get him out there to throw the other team’s offence into disarray for first 5-10 minutes. Don’t let them settle in and feel a good flow.

  10. Keep him as a starter for the rest of the season. He’ll figure out his fouling issues as the season goes on. The bench needs GTJ’s scoring and spacing. Unfortunately this would tank his value in FA and in any trades, so it’s not a likely outcome.
