Are the Knights a legit top 5 team?

Hi guys, we recently did a podcast and we went through the top 5 NHL teams and determined if they were legit or overperforming. Vegas being first in the standings, meant that they were obviously part of our discussion. We concluded that the Vegas golden Knights are a legit team and will stay in the top 5! Please watch our podcast if you are interested in this topic. If you don’t feel like watching the podcast, feel free to discuss whether Vegas is a legit top 5 team or overperforming in the comments of this post. My argument for them being a LEGIT top 5 team is that last year was an off year riddled with injuries and shouldn’t really matter when taking a look at their overall team. Also I believe the veterans like stone that the knights have will help the knights continue this pace throughout the entire season.

  1. Yes we are very obviously a top 5 team. Literally anyone disagreeing with that right now is just hating.

We have the talent, the coaching, the momentum, the ownership, the atmosphere, the personalities. Anything less than a WCF appearance is an absolute waste of a season.

  2. I think there was some legitimate concern about this team going into the season:

    – Would Eichel be healthy?

    – What would losing Pacioretty mean?

    – Would Kessel adapt to the new roster?

    – What kind of impact would Cassidy have?

    – Would the 3rd & 4th line be worth a damn (seriously, how does Amadio still have a spot on this roster)?

    – How would Thompson & Hill perform?

What we’ve seen now that we’re in the season is that this team is performing better than they should, and really belong in that top 5 conversation.

  3. I think any doubts about us this season were quashed when we swept the road trip capped off with Eichel’s Hatty on his former team (Buffalo). Yes we lost on Saturday but we’re STILL 13-3-0 and STILL currently a force to be reckoned with in the League.

  4. Coaching is good, goalies are solid, team is healthy and playing good hockey. Blue line is very strong and being utilized well in the gameplan.

Question marks mostly revolve around depth. If this team doesn’t have its health they can become significantly worse, and they don’t have many pieces in their farm system who can have an impact at the NHL level.

  5. This team is deep and has solid coaching. I saw a stat yesterday that said the Knights have the most players with at least 10 points. They can make it far, if they hopefully dont get many injuries.
