  1. Usually not the biggest Colin Cowherd fan, but the guy hit the nail on the head with this take.

Its on Sean McDermott that since they cut McCoy, we have not had a consistent running game. And no one this year is seemingly trying to hone in Josh Allen and refine him to fix his recklessness recently, that is on coaching.

  2. This place hated Daboll every time we lost last year and now it’s “we didn’t appreciate what we had”, whilst simultaneously doing the exact same thing to Dorsey this year.

The lack of self awareness is astounding.

We’re 6-3 and could easily be 7-2, 8-1, even 9-0 without literally any coaching differences. Two of our three losses were the direct result of a single instance of putrid on-field execution towards the end of the game.

The wide open, 5 yard TD that Josh short-armed against Miami, and the fumble in the end zone yesterday. Neither of those were long shot type plays. League average execution on those two plays and the Bills are 8-1 *and that’s still with 3-4 awful picks by Josh*.

These losses are on Josh, plain and simple, but for some reason y’all refuse to acknowledge that you can criticize games from your franchise QB while still believing he is an elite franchise QB.

  3. Im sorry, but I don’t believe in Brian Daboll as our OC. He may be better than Dorsey is, but IDC. From a viewers perspective, he called a lot of shitty plays here in Buffalo.

  4. I’m not going to watch that clip as I detest Cowherd so thanks for the summary. Unfortunately I might have to agree with the goofball. The Bills haven’t had a consistent run game. We’ve seen flashes of it. (Singletary looked GREAT in the 1st half yesterday) but it’s been rather spotty.

I was going to make a point yesterday (if the Bills hadn’t lost) that there’s a lot of Brett Favre in Allen’s play right now. Favre wouldn’t make a bonehead play EVERY game like Josh is in this stretch but he’d make enough of them especially post SB where you wonder what the hell he’s thinking. I don’t see Josh as being a selfish guy like Favre so reining in that aspect of his play can’t be that difficult but SOMEONE has to do it.

Someone here mentioned how the fanbase is all “we didn’t appreciate Daboll” and I agree, that’s just poor self awareness. Daboll continually drove me nuts. If anything, Dorsey’s issue isn’t necessarily the playcalling (though he seems to either lose focus or doesn’t make enough adjustments) it’s the fact that sometimes he’s too in love with certain plays and being a little too pass happy at times. He’s shown a lot of creativity within a structure whereas Daboll would call some gadget play completely out of nowhere only to see it fail 75% of the time.

  5. I don’t think is so much missing dabol as it’s McDermott. I’ve been saying for a while before it was cool that he’s been way too tight in big spots. The fact that no one was sacrificed after the KC game last year was unforgivable. They acted like that meltdown was just a regular part of the game/breaks stuff and not some historic anomaly like it really was…

  6. Dorsey has the offense running smoothly with a few growing pains up until 3 weeks ago. I don’t know what happened exactly, maybe its the players beating the Chiefs, who knows. But the playcalling has been really suspect. Dorsey is an inexperienced playcaller, so you expect to see pains but just some really weird choices on certain downs the last few weeks.

Not a lot of movement up front…feels like the last 3 weeks every big play is simply Allen scramble drill

But we all saw Daboll for what he was…good play designer, maybe a little too in his head at times…but he also absolutely tanked drives at a high rate. I feel like what is happening with Dorsey right now is he is not allowing the offense to get in sync, feels like they do a few riskier plays back to back…drive stalls…they come back out and run for one yard and then pass back to back again killing another drive. There is just no consistency play to play right now

  7. Ack, don’t put Josh in the same sentence as Farve. You know what else Farve did? Take embezzled money from welfare to build a volleyball stadium at his daughter’s college.

  8. This feels pretty short sighted. First of all “trust the process” does not mean ‘trust the process during the time where it completely turns a team around, but immediately lose faith if the process takes too long.’ I feel like cowerd is ignoring the fact that the process is what built the team where we have a top offense and defense with a bunch of young players. Yes there is an issue with the run game, but look at the teams development over the past few years. The entire offense was built around Josh and making the best passing game in the league (which was a success) and then the best defense. You can’t have all of those things AND a top run game without sacrificing something. For the bills the focus in terms of cap space, draft capital, etc was on the pass game which meant bad run-blocking, and little investment at rb.

So it just feels kind of dumb and overly simple to take a team that is 90% of the way through The Process and say ‘this is a coaching problem because they have no run game’ when that’s clearly the next focus. We improved the run blocking on the line, drafted cook who is improving, and picked up Hines… These losses are a combination of coaching, Josh’s mistakes, injuries, the nature of football, and many other things. Don’t pin it all on one thing while ignoring the huge list of improvements we’ve seen the past several years.

I think McDermott and Dorsey deserve some criticism but the strategy is to draft and develop not sell the future to win this year. Trust the process. Patience and struggle are a necessary part of it. For fans too

  9. If you look at the numbers, Josh has rushed for a total of 476 yards. Our second best rusher is Singletary at only 394 yards. 3rd is Cook at only 196 yards followed by Moss at 91 yards.

We have no run game what so ever outside of Allen playing hero ball. Sure it’s nice having a dual threat QB. But he is being forced into the situation. This is why for the life of me we didn’t try harder to develop Blackshear. Moss could literally quit tomorrow and nobody would miss him. Cook has hardly been a factor either.

Once you shut down Diggs, Knox and Davis. This offense falls apart fast. We lost Beasley so we don’t even have a decent slot guy anymore to make up for the anemic run game.

  10. Hindsight is always 20/20 but man taking Breece Hall over Elam in the first would look pretty damn good right now. I really like the Elam pick and definitely think it was the best move to make at that time with Tre coming off major injury. Anyways I’m already over the game yesterday. This team still has everything needed to get right and get back on track. I think we’re gonna go on a good 3-4 game win streak and get our groove back.

  11. This is why I’ve suggested we bring in Frank Reich. Not to take over the OC role but to act as a Offensive consultant.

I feel that Dorsey and Josh need an adult in the room.

Josh is going for the home run in the end zone too much. Take what the D gives you some more.

It was a strangely accurate assessment by Cowherd.

  12. 🤡🤡🤡

I mean I agree in concept that Josh needs to be reigned in. I agree we need a better run game. But this is a bit of a dramatic take. It sounds like something you would say after we lost a playoff game. Not during a weird slump after the bye.

Josh and co. do deserve criticism and I’m fine with that but some of these takes are so over the top.

  13. Devin Singletary is averaging 4.7 yards a carry over the last 5 games. That means there’s no reason we shouldn’t be trusting him more often, based on that number alone he could run for a first down late and take pressure of Josh. What do I know I’m not a coach.

  14. Does anyone know how many run plays (not using Allen) were called on average a game by Daboll and how many Dorsey is calling?

  15. I hate Colin, but this take is spots on. Absolutely 100% agree. This is on the coaches, it’s on McDermot. He’s not helping Josh and their coaching in the 2nd half of every game since the break has been dog shit. Josh is a superstar but he can’t do it himself every game and he shouldn’t have to. It’s a shame. This season could have been the one, but we’re on the brink of throwing it away.

  16. I am a super sad chippity choppy today, but I think Josh will look at the tape, see that he can trust his team to do the things once in a while, and win some games and keep that 1 seed. Need to do it fast, but it can be done. Kid’s better than we have any right to have expected.

  17. Sometimes you lose football games, I’d rather it be in the regular season than the post season. The world will survive and so will you

  18. The game ending interception was just off the mark, he had Davis but made a bad pass. Last year in the KC playoff game, Allen made that pass and was being praised for it. I don’t see how the miss gets pinned on coaching unless people believe the play was a little too aggressive with the game on the line.

  19. Screw this dude. The narrative will change one game later when Josh lights up the Browns and then all the pundits will be goblin on Buffalo’s Balls again. His take sucks.

  20. What an absolutely horrible take but not surprising its from a sports shock jock like Colin. Brian Daboll’s offense is 23rd in total yards per game (we’re 1st), they’re 22nd in points per game (we’re 3rd), and they’re 29th in passing yards per game (we’re 2nd).

New York has beat two teams with a winning record currently. Tennessee in week 1 by a single point and Baltimore by 4. Other than that they’ve been a current 3-7, 3-7, 4-6, 3-7, and 1-7 team. They’re playing in an NFC that may be historically bad.

They will probably lose one to Washington, one to Dallas, one to Minnesota, and two to Philadelphia and end up 10-8. And then get bounced in the first playoff game. They’re currently scheduled to head to Tampa Bay to play them in the first round and while Tampa has been disappointing can anyone really say New York is better?

Oh and Pete Carroll, Nick Sirianni, Kevin O’Connell, and Mike McDaniel are all coach of the year over Daboll.

The media loves this nearly every year with some team. Last year it was the Cardinals. In 2020, it was the Steelers. Those teams that anyone who watches the games knows isn’t that good but look at that fancy W-L record!!!!

  21. Colin Cowherd is an asshat who never admits when he’s wrong. Don’t waste the time watching this.
