  1. I read the article and the bigger headline is possible collusion between the NY teams on Judge.

    For JV it says “In theory, Crane’s remarks could scare off potential suitors for Verlander, depressing his market.” Seems silly that teams interested in JV wouldn’t know what his expectations are.

    To add, in the CBA it says … neither players nor clubs, “can make comments to the media about the value of an unsigned free agent, regardless of whether discussions have occurred.” It also lists a “non-exhaustive” list of prohibited comments, including, “Player X is seeking more than Player Y received.”

    So maybe Crane broke the rule but seems like a dumb rule anyways
