[Passan on The JD Bunkis Podcast] The Shin-Soo Choo deal, which was six years and $130M or so, is the place where I’ve landed [on Nimmo’s contract] after talking with people, but it wouldn’t surprise me if it goes higher than that

  1. Passan goes on to say “I don’t discount the possibility of Bo Bichette moving (as in being traded), but I think that’s like Plan C… Plan D, maybe.”

  2. I wouldn’t be surprised around that venue as well, however Choo was also better then Nimmo at that point although Choo’s defense completely disappeared before he signed that contract.

The bigger problem I have with that comparison is that from memory Choo did not live up to that contract with his defense becoming abysmal and his offense dropping off a noticeable bit.

However we aren’t getting Nimmo without paying adding an extra year, we had to do it for Springer also Nimmo is one of those guys where we would have to bid even higher to offset his ‘political disagreements with Canada’ (I’m not going to talk about politics, but you can easily find what I’m hinting at) if he even wanted to sign here.

  3. Ya, I’d rather trade Danny Jansen for Lars Nootbar +… spend that money on pitching and a legit SS

  4. I’d much rather just spend that money on someone that has proven to be elite like Correa and have him play 2nd. Then put Cavan/Santi in the corner OF until we can make a trade.
