  1. We talkin bout Preseason?? PRESEASON??? Listen Richard, your special teams unit has cost us 3 games this year so you better get your squad together regardless of how much practice or preseason they’ve had.

  2. Spoken like a guy that knows his job is on the line if he rides with Velus Jones as a returner. Damned if you do and damned if you don’t.

  3. Sounds like they finally figured out what most of us knew the moment he got drafted.

    BUST

  4. Stone hands really put a damper on his running ability. He is electric if he doesn’t drop/fumble the ball.

I hope Velus buys a jugs machine like Darnell Mooney and puts in work for next season and on!

  5. It’s not Velus’ fault he was over drafted and given the expectations of a third round pick when he never should have been a third round pick in the first place. It’s Poles’ fault for drafting him there

  6. That doesn’t sound too encouraging. I’m not sure why you wouldnt let him return kicks now since Herbert is on IR. He did a lot more of that in college and its far easier than returning punts.

  7. I’m not trotting out Velus just because he was a pretty high draft pick as my punt returner if I’m him. No way

  8. Hot take, but we’re not going to the playoffs, and our defense is giving up 30 points a game, why not throw him back out there and see if he can fix his own problems?

  9. It’s Week 11 and we’re talking about benching a player because he didn’t get enough reps in the preseason? 🤔

  10. When you answer one question with 20 questions. Too bad he didn’t have those two preseason games to work on catching and not fumbling punts. Is he exempt from all practices?

    EDIT

The Bears opponents only punted 5 times in the two games Velus missed in the preseason

  11. I was absolutely outraged at Velus’ muffs and to a much lesser extent with his dropped diving catch. That being said, I think it’s really dumb to give up on him as a gadget guy on offense so prematurely. 4.3 speed is really rare and he looked good on some jet sweeps. We should play him a lot the rest of this season to see what he can do and the worst case scenario is we get a better draft pick.

  12. When you’re eliminated from the playoffs, it’s basically preseason again. So if that time comes for us (hoping it doesn’t, but will take a lot), see if the dude has anything, and if he can’t pull it together, cool, move on

  13. Everyone is so quick give up on the guy. He was a third rounder and not a sure fire elite receiver. Maybe we are too desperate for a receiver to break out right away. Will he, who knows, but 10 games in is still too early to say he will never be a contributor. I blame Poles more than Jones. He tried to be the smartest guy in the room and skipped on earlier WR talent. He was trying to get his Deebo Samuel later in the draft.

  14. It’s interesting because the bears season is lost as is. It’s not like they are going to the playoffs so why not give him some more reps. Wouldn’t you want to find out if he can be at least a starter level player in the NFL?
