David Ortiz came to Boston in 2003 because the Twins didn’t want to pay a $2 million dollar option. In 2002 Papi hit .272 with 20 Homers and 75 RBI in 125 games. Papi was a clutch bat with pop. He broke out in 2002 and the Twins never even noticed. The rest is history.

Greatest PTBNL of all time
I don’t remember this time in his career, was this at the time considered a brutal move by Minnesota? Or was Papi a mediocre player/prospect who they thought wouldn’t pan out
That’s the thing people forget (or never realized). Papi was GOOD in his last year with the Twins
Repeat history and go sign Miguel Sano
