In a vacuum his arguments make sense. Wilson did face some killer defenses, but at this point it was more than he wasn’t throwing enough TD or yards. It was blatant horrendous QB play and a deteriorating PR/Locker room situation.

Chris Simms is speaking as a Zach Wilson fan instead of a Jets fan, his primary goal would be to develop Zach while our organization’s goal is (and SHOULD be) to win games. He couldn’t care less about what focusing only on the QB might do to our team, who is otherwise a playoff contender

People that say Zach hasn’t showed anything have a selective memory. Titans, Eagles, Bucs, 4th quarter against the Steelers, 1st half of the first Pats game (before the killer INT), Bills. He needs to correct the fundamental errors that got him benched but I really hope the Jets don’t cut / trade him. Until then I’m all in with MFW.

I agree with everything Simms said except he doesn’t address two important things, maturity and leadership.
Zach is clearly in his own head right now and his own frustration will not be healthy for team morale. A reset like Saleh called it may be the best way to fix Zach and keep him otherwise he is benched, broken and likely gone. Zach may just need the competition. It could also have the opposite effect and “emasculate” Zach as Florio said.
Also Mike White is more mature and Zach isn’t at that level yet being 3-4 years younger. MW is intentionally being a calming presence in the huddle in his own words, Zach might not have that yet in his repertoire. Leading the offense takes “knowing” what you’re doing, can’t lead professional athletes making mistakes more than successes. Mike White might be able to maintain a consistent level of emotion, never too high or too low, and that is also not necessarily something Zach has yet. All of that and more go into being a mature leader and the players might resent Zach a bit for being handed the job on top of it so he’s in a difficult place.
That being said I think Saleh made the right move. Zach needs to work on his lower body and when the coaches see he can correct that maybe he’ll be back. I hope Mike Fucking White balls out and wins every game he starts, just like I do Zach.
Zach being great opens up a Super Bowl window for the Next 4-5 years. Of course we want him to be great.
Hell if he didn’t make those comments he’s still playing probably. If he was playing even like the 25th best starter we aren’t having any issues with him.
But he’s been awful. I don’t expect MW to drop 300 and 3TDS on good or even average defenses, but I know it won’t be as bad as what Zach was doing. I feel so much more anxiety whenever he drops back lol

The Jets couldn’t run at all against NE, because the Patriots sold out to stop the run and DARED Zach to beat them by hitting open receivers (like a normal NFL QB would do) and Zach failed miserably.
Garret Wilson said it best. 2 yds isn’t going to cut it. It won’t fly and we have the dudes. The team has talent and the ability. They can’t waste the time to develop Zach. He needs to speed up his process. If the team sucked then fine let’s take it slow but the team is ready.
I think we all want a world where Zach comes back the light bulb turns on and lights the league on fire. I think Zach should make a come back if the jets coaching staff thinks that the play of mike white is the new standard and Zach can be at least that week to week. If not mike white stays in.
Why is everyone ignoring the stated reason for the benching? Everyone is so sure it’s because of the locker room or his production but Salah literally said the primary reason was the current state of his mechanics, which is obviously true, but you never hear anyone talk about the situation from that perspective.

I disagree with Simms because the team is just way ahead of Zach’s level of play and can’t wait for him to develop without alienating the locker room. White has the starting job as long as he doesn’t do something disastrous. Players seem to be excited and want to play for him – and basically the next 2 games are going to show us exactly how this plays out. Either Mike White is the real deal or we are back to the drawing board, maybe still hoping for ZW to improve.
Simms has laid the framework for when Zach is unanimously a bust he can now just say “well he was good the jets just ruined him”
