I stopped believing in these stats when I saw that Justin Holl was leading the leafs in half of them
As a stats guy I can honestly say that while some of them are better in the previous year, some of them are also better this year.
So we are attempting less shots but blocking more shots and preventing more shots.
The team defense is just as good if not better when you factor in that the d corps is absolutely decimated right now and Muzzin’s career is over, but the team offense is a bit concerning. They had a high octane offense last year that generated a lot of chances and they’ve regressed to middle of the pack this season. Hoping that it’s just an aberration and they’ll revert back to a top offensive team, but I have real concerns with the bottom six, especially the third line which has been a black hole outside of last night.
So basically we are playing lower event hockey than last year, and are a tiny bit worse fancy stat wise
