  1. It’s crazy we brought him here to help clean the glass specifically on defensive, specifically against this team, after they smoked us rebounding in the playoffs. They are really good, one of the best teams at keeping the ball live and getting 2nd and 3rd (and 4th…) shots on a possession. And I get KAT, Jaden and TP were out, but still…one (1!) board? I really have no words. Just glad we got the W. This KAT-less window is going to be Ant’s time to turn this into his team.

  2. Think this stat needs some context. Blocked shots and lots of steals means there is no rebound to get on those possessions. They forced 24 (!) turnovers which limits defensive rebounding opportunities.

Also last night they seemed especially intentional to be like fuck em’ offensive rebounds, let’s sprint back. There was a possession when all 5 players were back and set in their defensive positions while the Grizzlies were still at the other end rebounding the ball lol

Rudy was getting called for some soft ass fouls. Without Kat to pull Adams out of the paint, both JJJ and Adams are there to get rebounds and that paint was clogged AF. Rudy was already in foul trouble. Him trying to beat Adams or JJJ when all three of those giants are basically breathing on each other by the rim would mean another foul.

He also was contesting some shots and at other times went to the corner to make space for Ant. 1 rebound is crazy though…so clearly it wasn’t his best game but he was still pretty impactful with his screens and his rim deterrence, particularly in the 4th.

Ja paused several times and kicked out. Two possessions became shot clock violations bc they wouldn’t penetrate. I felt like Rudy was controlling the paint and our other players defended really well too. I still can picture Slomo with his hands spread out and Rudy behind him and they were like…nahhh

+- isn’t the best stat, but it’s telling that Rudy had a +13, the 2nd highest on the team.

  3. A win is a win, there’s no rule that says he has to get 10+ rebounds a game for the win to be valid. Sometimes it just happens 🤷‍♀️

  4. The Grizzlies sent two players to box out Gobert every time the ball went up. Rudy has a HUGE impact on the game, especially defensively that just doesn’t show up in the box score. He also had the second highest +/- on the team while being out half the game due to some terrible whistles.

People need to watch games man.

  5. It seemed to me he was boxing his guy out on the defensive and going back on D when we were on the offensive end. Still surprising more didn’t just fall to him though.

  6. Honestly wouldn’t mind if Gobert didn’t start/spent more time on the bench even with KAT out.

  7. As a Jazz and Rudy fan following the Timberwolves this year, I know very well the phenomena of Rudy’s box score looking underwhelming in games he impacts in hugely positive ways, but the 1 rebound is a new level of weird.
