Interesting Take On The Boyd Signing That MIGHT Just Change Your Mind

Yep, this is spot on— big picture stuff. I think our fanbase is suffering from a bit of brain rot still from Avila’s rudderless ship. Picking up Boyd is exactly what Scott Harris talked about in his various press conferences about taking calculated risks. Man has a vision beyond just taking things year by year, which previously led us to seven years of nothing.
There’s been an overreaction to the $10M salary. If you ignore the money and just think about Matt Boyd as the LH starter bounceback candidate who was an excellent teammate who loved playing in DET, I think most ppl’s opinion on this signing would change.
Salary is dictated by the market and in some respects the term and playing for DET, given where the team currently is. If Boyd puts up solid numbers and gets traded to a contender at the deadline for a nice return, there will be many happy Tigers fans looking back at this signing in hindsight
Non contender? Sir we play in the AL central our division is an annual grab bag.
