Green Bay Packers Have Options to Replace DC Joe Barry

  1. I was once lobbying for a traffic cone to replace Amari Rodgers at punt returner. I am once against asking for the traffic cone to replace Joe Barry.

  2. Zim Zam would be interesting. Evero has done very well in Denver. Wish we would’ve picked him over Barry.

  3. I’ll believe the Packers will fire Barry when it happens and not a moment sooner. Lafleur seems very defensive of him and seems to put a lot of it on poor execution. That could just be him backing Barry since they don’t want to move on in season, but it could also be lafleur being loyal to his guy like McCarthy was with capers.

  4. I’m available. I’ll work for free and I won’t give 15 yard cushion on 3rd and 4.

  5. I’m not sure why everyone think MLF is going to do the right thing here. He hangs on to inept coordinators way too long. Why should he be trusted to get the DC position right when he screwed it up so bad in the first place?

  6. I don’t think LaFleur has the balls to make the decision. If he thinks it’s an execution issue of Barry’s defense, then it’s on the coaching staff to get the team to execute. If it’s on the scheme, then replace the guy who’s running the scheme. One way or the other, they need to clean house with that defensive coaching roster.

There’s been so many awful communication issues in our secondary that need to be hammered out and it’s embarrassing that it’s still happening on the back nine of the season. Not to mention the 15 yards of cushion our fucking corners are taught to give when playing zone. Our D line looks like a bunch of practice bags who can’t do anything, and Campbell looked like he regressed from last year in his limited play.

The coaching is horrible and the majority of our draft capital and salary cap being dumped into that half of the ball is embarrassing. We should be at worst mediocre on defense and it’s high time to go after a big name DC and give him full reign of the staffing decisions, because whoever is trying to “help” our defense has been abhorrently failing for way too long

  7. Hmmm I didn’t see “Broomhandle” on the list which is a surprise because, at this point, an inanimate object might actually do a better job.

  8. We should lobby for a new offensive CO too. Cause it’s 12 weeks into the season and we just got 30+ points. But neither really need to happen. Injuries kinda fucked this team this year

  9. It is no guarantee that Eviro becomes available even if the Broncos part way with Hackett. When the Packers fired McCarthy they kept Mike Pettine. If you have a top 5 defense it’s very likely you try to keep that going barring a significant change in philosophy.

  10. Not every head coach in the NFL lasts for 15 seasons so if it comes to pass that MLF loses his job at some point, it will be because he has done such a poor job choosing his coordinators. He has already gone thru one DC and one Special teams coach and he’s been at his job for just 3 years. In other words, he better get this one right or he is on the hot seat, as he should be.

  11. I like Leohnard. Home grown and helped build one of the strongest defenses in college football.

  12. Zimmer. Absolutely Zimmer. The guy is a hell of a defensive mind. His scheme is aggressive and pretty blitz heavy. And even when he doesn’t blitz he’s always showing pressure. That is what we need imo. We have the cover guys to put on an island.

  13. Fangio or Zimmer. But Packers won’t, because they are the obvious answer and they’ll go hire some unproven guy.

  14. I don’t really care who takes the job. Vic, Zimmer, Leonhard, some young College DC, whoever. As long as they don’t do what Barry did in not hiring his own guys. We need an entire reset on defense. Every position, DC, skills trainers, everyone. Typically a new DC will come in and say “you’re fired, you’re fine, you suck, and I like you.” Barry kept all of Pettine’s guys. I didn’t think that was a big deal because I thought guys like Gray and Montgomery were solid but our two worst groups on defense have been the DBacks and Lineman. Guy that comes in next needs to clean house, get guys he can trust, and take the full off-season to reinvent the defense. I think that includes a philosophical change away from 3-4 (or 4-3 whichever one we run I can never remember which is which).

  15. I love the idea of promoting the ILB coach to DC to see how it goes prior to the season ending

  16. First option: Any professional DC. Hell. Even Capers.

    Second option: Fan raffle.

Third option: Script plays from ten games of Tecmo Bowl.

  17. Idk how one legendary qb couldn’t get a defense literally his entire career. What two years Rodgers has had a top ten defense? Embarrassing

  18. We hire five chickens, throw corn on a huge board of defensive plays, and wherever the most shit lands after the chooks have eaten all the corn is the play we run. I guarantee results similar or better to those currently being achieved
