  1. Here’s what idiots like that fail to understand: it took Davis the best game of his post Bubble career to even match a good Giannis game. If Giannis had the best game in two years, he would’ve dropped 60pts on their asses.

So, the Lakers had the best game of Davis since the bubble, an unexpectedly good shooting game by LeBron, an error free Wesbrook game, and their role players playing a very good game. Good luck getting all of these to happen at the same time again, and having both Davis and LeBron healthy for the rest of the season.

Meanwhile, this was Khris’s first gaem Buck, Pat is still rusty, Jingles hasn’t played a game, and Bobby is just starting to get out of his bad stretch.

  2. Giannis puts up multiple 30-40 point performances almost every night and AD has a few good games coming off of around 2 years of not.

  3. We’re back to this now, Davis has a stretch of elite play and people are back on the hype train. Same thing happened in the bubble where people were really arguing him vs Tim Duncan. All of last season people were completely shitting and clowning on him and complaining he made top 75. I think Anthony Davis is an amazing power forward but is riddled with injury problems so that limits him. He is definitely an elite power forward in the league capable of super star play when healthy but his narrative gets pushed so hard he is either underrated or overrated all the time.

  4. This question only comes up when AD has game like that, while Giannis does this at least once a week. The recency bias is insane

  5. The difference is in the consistency. You can pencil Giannis to have 30 pts 15 rebounds and a couple of assists on 50% shooting damn near every game. AD has yet to shown this consistency albeit due to health issues.

  6. It took the Buck’s giving up the most points in the paint EVER of the Bud era for this to even be brought up as a conversation.

Defense last night was subpar to say the least.

Congrats to AD though, man has been playing good this season, nice to see players still succeed after injuries.

  7. I mean, he was the best one last night… are we going to ask the same question the next time AD puts up 20 and Giannis puts up 45?

  8. I mean, AD *has* been on an absolute tear these past 6 or 7 games. There’s no denying that. But there’s also no denying that Giannis is still the better player no question.

  9. I actually see how people talk themselves into dumb arguments about guys being “more skilled” or a “complete player.” It’s *dumb*, but I understand how a person can watch someone like AD do so many things on a court and then see the things Giannis *can’t* do and start to think AD is at least on par with Giannis.

I was talking to a friend who is an NFL fan but doesn’t follow basketball that closely and put it like this:

You know how Alvin Kamara is a great running back because he can do so many things at a high level right? He can run outside, he can run inside, he can run routes like a wide receiver– he can do it all!

Well now imagine that I am drafted by the packers, but for some reason I am allowed to drive a steamroller while playing games. I really can’t catch a pass or make anyone miss, but I’m just going to move the whole defense out of the way and score every single time. Alvin Kamara can still do *way* more things on a football field than I can, but me driving a steamroller is still a much better player because I do the most important thing and I do it better than any human on the planet.

Now, that’s still kind of being unfair to Giannis because he actually *can* do a lot more things. But I think a lot of fans just don’t get that he is *so* much better at creating shots at the rim than any other player that doing other stuff really just doesn’t matter that much.

Oh also DPOY level defense (though this year that goes to Brook!)

  10. Laker fans are high on Davis right now, they think AD when healthy is the better player no question.

  11. Lakers fan here. Its Giannis lol. I love seeing AD play at this level but Giannis is the best player in the league period. I also just love his attitude and leadership overall. I always find myself rooting for him.

  12. Sixers fan randomly scrolling through and cmon this is just silly. Love AD, but Giannis is on another level
