  1. KD 8 turnovers & kyrie shooting 7/21. Royce does something stupid Atleast twice every game and cam Thomas is in a world of his own. But I’m not upset at the loss we really missing Yuta and Ben

  2. That entire 4th quarter just felt like watching us shoot ourselves in the foot over and over and over.

KD was especially putrid, he just let Tatum walk all over him like in the playoffs.

I wish we saw more Warren over Royce today, he made it clear early on that it was not his night

I feel like this team has a serious composure issue. I never see just one bad play by itself, it’s always multiple in a row that just absolutely cripple us.

  3. Intense game, had my heart pumping from minute 1. It’s clear the Nets still have some way to go before they can truly compete with the elite contenders. And I know we were missing Ben and Yuta, but keep in mind they were also missing Smart and Timelord.

    Onto the next.

  4. Also hacking Claxton when they were up by 9 with 2mins left in a regular season game is NASTY !

  5. Missing pieces but I thought the team played better than what the final score indicated

Not sure if Seth Curry or Cam could play against Boston given how big that team is. Claxton was great defensively and came up with offensive rebounds (taking advantage of a team that switches a lot, sound familiar?), but alas, free throws again. KD was good at scoring but forgot how to use his hands at key moments. Kyrie needs to play better against this defense period

I’m not discouraged by this loss. The Celtics are a great team and the Nets aren’t there yet from a chemistry or health standpoint. I hope they rest up over these next 2 days

  6. Tough loss. Our one chance to expose their paint whole Timelord was still out. Clax needs to practice his FTs

  7. Celtics own us. Seems like a lifetime ago when we used to beat up on them in the ‘20-‘21 season.

  8. I just want to know what the fuck Claxton does in the gym because his free throws was a problem last year.

  9. this was a winnable game. both teams made a lot of mistakes but ultimately the celtics capitalized on ours better than we did on theirs. a huge improvement from last season and im excited to see how we play w/ ben and yuta available (and please god no cam thomas)

  10. Decent game but got way too sloppy in the fourth. Really missed Ben’s ball handling tonight.

  11. A reasonable take on KD’s struggles: he’s not a natural passer. It’s something he had to work on and he’s never going to be a Jokic or even Ben-level passer and that’s fine. If were, he’d be Lebron. This is clearly where Ben’s play is going to be important. Ben needs to be ready to shoot free throws all game because they’re obviously going to hack him.

Also, hide Cam Thomas’ jersey before every game.

  12. watching KD that 4th quarter annoyed me absolte turnover machine kept waiting for the double teams when he could just shoot over the defenders

  13. This was a close one all night just couldn’t make the big shots and too many dumb turnovers (specifically KD). I think Ben will help so much in a matchup like this. Get the ball out of KDs hands besides him shooting shots and he needs to start making the simple pass because he clearly can’t do any cross court passes it’s an automatic TO

  14. It was competitive. Tatum does have KDs number and I expect Durant to elevate next time they meet. Hopefully both squads will be healthy next time they meet. Celtics played better 100%. But the takeaway for me is that we were always right there and we can build on that.

  15. Honestly without our two best perimeter defenders in Simmons and Watanabe, this was a solid game considering how bad Oneale and Irving were. But once they get Williams back we really need a center to even have a chance.

  16. A lot of bad mistakes made this game. But they are correctible mistakes. Nets just need to make those shots and cool it on the turnovers and we can beat this team. We missing Ben, Yuta, and Sumner too. Game was close throughout so the lost sucks but I think we have a chance next time.

  17. Well idk what i expected since that was basically a runback of the playoffs lol

Royce was abysmally bad and we really need more from Kyrie. He got some tough rolls but he can’t have less pts than shots

But I ain’t too upset, you can clearly see where Ben and Yuta will help a lot. Yuta gives us another 3 and D option which means we can swap out whoever’s cold, Royce in this case. Ben can guard whoever’s hot on the Jays and he will help in transition where we had 6 empty trips in the first half alone

Problem is that Boston and Milwaukee are way more physical teams. They basically dare the refs to call fouls and bully teams like us. Idk how we can really fix that but it’s gonna be a consistent problem in every matchup. We also need to figure out the switching thing because switching a guard on the Jays is free points. Ben and Yuta help but we will always have at least one small guard out there

  18. The defense was impressive but the nets half court offense struggles against this Celtics defense.

  19. No reason to be upset at this. It’s actually an acceptable loss considering it’s the celtics. Turned it over too many times, transition offense blocked, bricking 3’s, and Cam getting minutes

  20. I hate the Celtics with a passion but they are so fucking good. There’s just no way we can beat them in a Series.

  21. Tough loss. I honestly think we would have won this one with Ben available. We were missing his defense and ball handling. Those KD turnovers were a real killer.

Also, Cam Thomas has had multiple opportunities to show up, and he hasn’t changed his game at all.

  22. Holding the No. 1 offense in the league to 103 is a great job by the defense. But when you have two turnovers at the end of half and then Kevin ends up with 8 of them alone, you always kill your chance.

That on top of Kyrie bad shooting night, and us being weaker on the boards always will hurt us. I’m not mad about the game, expected us to lose, but by God it would’ve been awesome to get the win.

Just gotta win the next two and make this home stand 6-1.

  23. Celts fan here, damn y’all got me sweating most of that second half. Credit to y’all for turning it around and looking like a feasible bball team

  24. Those KD turnovers won’t happen as much when we have Ben. Obviously it’s disappointing to lose this still but I’m not going to panic over this.Yuta would’ve made a big difference too not having to play 2/12 Royce as much. Still need another big tho

  25. KD passing out of a double is pretty much an automatic TO… Kai shot like shit, Royce made too many bonehead plays, Seth did nothing except foul all game. Horrible transition offense also hurt

  26. Cam Thomas is a flat out stupid player. He consistently makes the worst decisions on the floor

  27. Was actually not too bad a loss – we defended well as a team, made some good plays and kept the game closer than I expected. Us having Ben and Yuta out and Celtics playing best in league rn so can’t be too mad. on to the next

  28. If Clax could’ve just shot his season average, he would’ve had another double-double. Overall though, I’m not that upset at the team’s performance today. That 3rd quarter was straight out the 90s… The sample size is starting to get big enough that I’m not too sketched to say our defense is looking like it might actually be legit. Ky shot like shit, but he hustled on every play and picked up 8 boards. KD was, once again, KD. Only a couple mistakes passing out of the doubles, but it’s a far cry from how he did with that during our single playoff series last year. I think we’re on the right trajectory.

  29. Brooklyn Nets: Facing off against the Celtics, who are the best team in the NBA by a mile, while also having important pieces in Ben, Yuta, and Sumner out due to injury.

    People in the game thread:
    “Blow it all up!”
“Trade KD to a real team!”
“Sometimes I question why I root for this team!”

I’m dead serious when I say the hardest part of rooting for this team is constant doomer shit like this from the fanbase who cry and kick and scream with every loss. The way they react you’d think we were losing to the 2012 Charlotte Bobcats by 50 points.

Yeah I get it this team has a lot of problems and a long way to go before we can truly, genuinely contend. KD turnovers, lack of big and rebounding, defensive miscommunication, lack of size, should’ve resigned Bruce, blah blah blah thing we’ve restated over and over ad nauseam and know already. That’s all true but I swear some of you people in this subreddit need to calm the fuck down and learn to take losses in stride.

  30. I didn’t see the whole 3rd quarter. Did we have anything to do with that 13 point quarter or was it just them having a bad shooting period?

  31. I was finally able to get some sleep (after this massive toothache kept me up all of last night) and missed this game.

Not stunned we lost but it appears some of the issues we had this game were similar to what occurred in last years playoffs….no?

  32. This team really needs kyrie to play point guard to limit those turnovers. I don’t if he can but they should really start after this game to get him suited for the postion
