I will forever love this signing for Texas. You have a staff ace in deGrom who is one of the best pitchers of our generation. Injury risk is there, but you cannot let that scare you away from taking a gamble. Texas is winning NOW. They didn't hire Bruce Bochy to continue finishing near the bottom of the AL. They got him because they want to win. They didn't splurge on players like Marcus Semien just to give away free money. They splurged because it sends a message that they are serious. Now they get deGrom which further cements the idea that they are serious about contending.
In 3-4 years, they will become World Champions. The ALCS will be a Battle of Texas, and the Astros will lose their crown to the Rangers, and the Rangers will march right on to the World Championship.
One of the dumbest deals ever. They won’t get 600 innings out of him.

I hope Jake is very happy going forward, he should be with 185 million. As a Met fan I hope he loses every game he pitches
This Met fan wishes him well, but I am somewhat relieved that we will not be going through another season of, "if he stays healthy" and holding our collective breath during his next inevitable stay on the DL.
